scott
It was about people trying to protect their loved ones from this self indulgent world Wow! Too bad the movie was dumb by all standards, and the fact that the exact same plot has been done over and over in literature.
PSYCHOcatholic
Now, polls show that it had a very good plot twist. I will admit, and im ashamed to say, i didnt see the whole modern day thing coming. I knew something was being kept secret though. Now...if it had been done in another movie...it would have been good, but, the end made me cry in shame...for there was no end. BLAH! True, even Steven Speilburg made a couple bad movies. I think the Village raked it in because of Signs, and the Sixth Sense...ppl wanted to see how this compared.

Jenny
My husband and I just saw this last week and I think he summed it up best: "After the secret was revealed, it was just a movie about a blind girl lost in the woods" I figured out the first secret, but not the second one. It wasn't an OhmyGod moment like in Sixth Sense, but I thought it was interesting. Especially when one of the characters said something like "you can't run from sorrow, sorrow finds you". It seems like that's what they were doing in creating the village, but it's true, sorrow comes into your life whether you live in a crime ridden place or in an insular community.
