No, he was from Meridian, Mississippi.

His song from 1968 was played on a Lambrini ad in the UK.

He had a #1 hit in January 1974 on Billboard Hot 100.

I normally don't try to answer these because I usually have no clue. This one is relatively easy because I have one of his albums and your last clue pretty much made it a slam dunk.

Yes, so they say... :laughing: But my Canadian friends are very cool. We Europeans are more "nervous" :cool:
