golden_ann Posted July 31, 2004 Author Report Posted July 31, 2004 Yep, I get what you're saying. But like you said, ELO still one of the best!
bazooka Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 10 CC - the average amount of ejaculate from a healthy male. The way I heard this was that 9cc (cubic centimeters) was the average. So the group's name was "going one better". (Reminds me of Spinal Tap's "11" on their amp dial.)
MuzikTyme Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 Hey, maybe the guy that was messing with the watermelon in the other thread knows for sure. :: Interesting name for a band, 1ccmore.
cosmosis Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 GTO: Girls Together Outrageously I think I'm done now
MarcM Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 GBH, an old punk band. Stands for "Grievous Bodily Harm"
DiggsUK Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 In a similar vein - SLF - Stiff Little Fingers. Regards
windy1 Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 No one has mentioned BOC- Blue Oyster Cult. Although I dislike it when people use initials for bands if that wasn't the original name. I still call them Blue Oyster Cult. When Creedence Clearwater Revival was recording, they were never called CCR. If anything they were just called Creedence. Oh well. If the world turned according to my likes it would be a whole different world. Oh yeah Diggs how's the Mrs? Do we have a baby yet?
Aunt_Acid Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 I have never heard Blue Oyster Cult called BOC before. Also, nobody mentioned TB. The Beatles.
Elvish Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 I thought of a few more: DMB: Dave Matthews Band EWF: Earth Wind & Fire BBHC: Big Brother & Holding Company QMS: Quicksilver Messenger Service

scott Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 This is a reply to Muzik, from a while back on R.E.M. many people believe it stands for 'rapid eye movement' but one time when Michael Stipe was asked this he replied 'R.E.M. stands for nothing, but will lie down for anything'
Aunt_Acid Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 'R.E.M. stands for nothing, but will lie down for anything'
scott Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 Oh yeah Dave, if you've never been able to really get into R.E.M. I reccomend their album 'Monster' you might like it, a good number of the tracks on there have a real 'Floydesque' quality to 'em (Peter Buck, one of the most inventive and underrated guitarists IMO, uses this technique on that album (that's especially potent when you're wearing headphones) that just fills the air with great guitar sound)
cosmosis Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 They keep popping up. OMD: Orchestral Maneouvres in the Dark AON: Art Of Noise
windy1 Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 They call Blue Oyster Cult BOC in St.Louis all the time. ::
MuzikTyme Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 'R.E.M. stands for nothing, but will lie down for anything' Thanks. I remember you saying that before but I forgot when I made the original post. I don't mention REM a lot but I do like them. Typical but my favourite song by them is Losing My Religion. Recently they did a free concert on direct TV and I was impressed with the communication they had with the crowd. Stipe is so natural on stage.
scott Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 I'm going to agree with you, Stipe is a really underrated frontman, he's very very charasmatic (and an awesome songwriter)
audioslave Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Who has the best repetoire - that would be DMB :guitar: CCR is in the running as are STP.
Aunt_Acid Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 ELO has a way bigger repertoire than DMB. Although DMB is good. ELO has better songs, and more of them.
audioslave Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 ELO has a way bigger repertoire than DMB. Although DMB is good. ELO has better songs, and more of them. I think you must be from an alternate universe - do you all have a different definition of "better" than we have? also - thought of a couple more: QOTSA - queens of the stoneage AYWKUBTTOD - and you will know us by the trail of dead
cosmosis Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 I hate Dave Matthews Band. He's such a geek and he's got this attitude. He think he's such an intellectual and modern.

You sound like my son (who acts like I should be embarrassed by my love for all things DMB)- I will not be shamed - I love DMB and I don't care who knows it! Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and gosh darn it - other people love DMB too. He seems like a very nice boy and geeks are cool.
