Do you know any trucks that are bound for the Valley? I don't want to stay here All night in this bar ... The correct title is Faster,Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965). It was directed by the legendary "King of the Nudies" Russ Meyer (<). The plot reportedly involves a trio of malevolent large-breasted strippers doing bad, bad things. In 1970, Meyer co-wrote Beyond the Valley of the Dolls with film critic Roger Ebert.
  5. This is my favorite line from this never-old song. And Warren Zevon's delivery is "perfect".
  6. Glad - Traffic Living in the Past - Jethro Tull Take a Giant Step - Taj Mahal Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers
  7. Purple Haze - the Jimi Hendrix Experience Heard it on the radio this afternoon. Is it tomorrow? Or just the end of time?
  8. Sorry for the bogus link in my previous post. I meant this: Rock and Roll Anthems (<)
  9. I'm straying from the topic a bit. This came to my mind when I heard the Stones' Gimme Shelter the other day: Isn't it quite an amazing leap lyrically from "rockin' pneumonia ...rollin' arthritis" to "Rape! Murder!". On the other hand, the Rolling Stones also gave us It's Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It). Years ago, a friend pointed out to me a long tradition of self-parody in Rock and Roll. The music's tendancy to experimentation, exaggeration and excess are all part of the evolution and responsible for its staying power. More Rock and Roll Anthems(<)
  10. What about us slightly irregulars? I was a five-star Songfacts sweetheart. Came back a week later and I'm down to three. Did I insult the main poster child?
  11. I Can't Stand the Rain - Ann Pebbles
  12. Not gone. Just not posting a lot. My slower metabolism, I guess. Or higher QC.
  13. Gee ?90125 - I haven't really formulated that "plan". But what a profound question!
  14. "Is it rolling, Bob? " at the beginning of To be Alone with You (from Bob Dylan's 'Nashville Skyline' album) Don't know who's asking whom?

To see sweet little Audrey Tautou in a different role, rent He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (French/subtitled). There are some surprises here, so don't read the synopsis on the package (it gives too much away) before watching.
  17. If you mean UFOs defined as alien spacecraft, Nope.
  18. I like the stuff Van Morrison repeats in Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile). The lyrics say 'Ding-a-ling', but it sounds more like 'Dang-a-langa-lang'. His singing really jibes with the feel of the music.

  24. Here are two sources that verify the 'non-specific urethritis' meaning. NSU is a form of venereal disease that Eric Clapton had supposedly been afflicted with. #1 Fresh Cream. See the 'Did You Know?' section half way down the page. #2 EC FAQ. You have to fish a little. It's quite a ways into the text. This also contends that although the song is credited to Jack Bruce, Bruce once claimed that Ginger Baker was the writer.
  25. A movie that will appeal to 13 year-old boys! What a unique new concept! [i'm not picking on you, Danielj. Just kidding around] I mean if Beowulf is movie business-as-usual, they will see some need to 'pump it up' with FX. And, if we're lucky, the writers may have looked at the Cliff Notes. But, on the other hand, I suppose an optimist could say there is some slight chance this might turn out to be a classic motion picture.
