  1. If you can get past "Silly Love Songs" and "Let 'Em In" which were pop hits for Paul, there are a few good songs on the Wings At The Speed Of Sound album. I can give you at least ten good Beatles sites but I think this site is the best of them all. There is a commentary for just about every song when you view the songs on their lyrics pages. Also note, you will find the lyrics for just about all Beatles songs on this site as well as much more interesting stuff. Enjoy!! I Am The Beatles site
  2. Pete Best never really knew why he was cut from the Beatles. Any other speculation would be just that, speculation. I suggest you read this interview with Pete Best done in 2000. Pete Best Talks As a side note - Did you know that Pete's mother was responsible for booking the Beatles first gig at the now infamous Cavern Club.
  3. Wow....not sure how to respond to it but I agree with you Muzik, the use of the phrase "you people" does seem to reference a group of folks in a derogatory manner. As for Denmark....so you think us Americans display lack of knowledge at times? Well all I can say is thank God, as it shows that we too are human. You mentioned the "rest of the world" but left out your country. I am willing to bet my last coin there may be one or two Brits in your country who may display a general lack of knowledge at times....hmmmmm, I believe I know of one on Downing Street.
  4. Dude....I didn't ask you if you cared or not, I was just asking if you were using a server because Dell (which you said you only buy your PC's from) does not sell a $4000 PC. Read the question and respond accordingly, or perhaps you did not see the question in the post? The other point I made was regardless of the price of a PC you still can encounter errors on your software and most of the time the hardware has nothing to do with it. I would think a guy who spends $4000 would know these things. Lighten Up!
  5. CD....if you spent 4000 on a computer you have been robbed. I can build you the best computer out there today for half the price with a minimum of 3 ghz. I am in the IT business and believe me you were robbed. I thought you mentioned in another thread that you only bought Dells (only time I ever agreed with you....LOL). Dell's top of the line desktop (XPS Gen 3) sells for less than $2000 with a 3.2 ghz chip. Perhaps you are working off of a server? Whether you own a $600 Dell or a $4000 PC it will not make a difference when you encounter software issues (98% of the time). With regards to the original problem in this thread my advice for that issue and any issue you may encounter with your PC.....always make a note of the error message. You will need the error message to search for it on a search engine. You will be surprised at how many bulletin boards will pop up on a search with folks experiencing similiar problems. Within those postings you may find the cure. You may also wish to download another browser (i.e., mozilla or netscape) or reload the MS Internet Explorer.
  6. Hey Gillian.....what time do those parties begin? Considering the time of your post (5:10 p.m. PST US on 8/15) that would put Ireland at 1:10 a.m. on Monday morning. You all must really not care about work and school in the morning! LOL
  7. Since we are sharing stories of our movements I have a couple as well. They may not be as funny as some of yours but they have never left my thoughts. I was in high school (10th grade, 14 years old) when I decided to forgo the usual lunch for just a chocolate thick shake and package of Twinkies. To this day I will never know how the two did not mix but back then I nearly died. For a period of 4 days ( I recall counting 99 hours between good dumps) I was in the bathroom almost every hour letting the brown river flow. I lived with my grandparents and my grandmother urged me to drink rice water. For three days I fought with her saying I am not going to put that stuff in my mouth. I was nearing dehydration by the fourth day and I started feeling faint (not good for a 14 year old). I finally broke down and took my grandmothers's old maid's remedy. Well to my surprise, like magic, one glass of that stuff cleared everything up. The remedy was simply made by boiling rice and then taking the water out of it before it took to the rice. Now you have this thick starchy water ( I advise adding some salt). Just another thing I learned from dear Grandma....and as always, the elders are always right! My second story is somewhat funny. I developed a stomach condition which needed medical attention. It turned out to be an ulcer but before making the diagnosis the doctor had to perform a few tasks. He scheduled me for an upper G.I. series and a barium enema. Wanna guess which came first? There I was, in the hospital as the P.A. prepared me for the barium enema. For those who do not know exactly what it is, your stomach is coated with barium to allow for good x-rays of the stomach. A tube is inserted through your rectal area and then air pumps the barium up into the lining of your stomach. Well, after a few pumps I started to tell the P.A. that I was getting real crampy. He told me it would be a few more minutes and I would have to hold it. He even said he performed the same earlier in the morning on a 96 year old woman who did not complain, to which I responded of course not as you probably killed her!! Anyway, after what seemed like an eternity (perhaps 10 minutes) I was already doubled over when he said I could now go to the adjoining bathroom. It was in there that I let out a fart which literally lasted a minute and a half.....non stop!! After going through all of that the doctor told me they did not find anything. It was during the upper G.I. series they found the ulcer. Upper G.I. series is nothing more than drinking down a barium shake...always ask for strawberry. Doesn't taste much worst than Kaopectate. Moral of the story....always go with the upper GI series first!!
  8. Believe it or not I do have an affection towards "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. In my opinion Barbra has the greatest female voice I have ever heard and Donna's voice was almost as good. This song shows the talent these two wonderful singers shared.
  9. You know Muzik, I was saying the same to my girl while we watched (in pain) the DEVO concert. I told her that they were perhaps the leader (definitely on the cutting edge) of New Wave considering they were around since 1972. They did alot of clubs until they hit it big. They mentioned during the concert they played at CBGB's in NYC back in 1976. Back then that was one of the biggest clubs around. They did have a distinct style and it was lost in the concert I saw the other night. Their staccato movements were not there and when they attempted it, they seemed arthritic. If you recall the movie "Revenge Of The Nerds" where at the end they have a battle of the bands, the nerds basically copied the DEVO style with regard to movement. The shame was I had just finished setting up surround sound in my bedroom on Saturday evening, put in Star Wars (1977) to enjoy with the new sound system and then caught DEVO's act. My ears were in tears because they hurt so bad!! LOL Last note to you MUZIK....find a nice rainy evening (thunder will help the mood), get yourself a tin of popcorn and turn off all of the lights in the house, then enjoy ROSE RED and let me know what you think. I have not seen Storm Of The Century yet but plan to in the next few weeks since I start my vacation for a month after Tuesday night.
  10. Anyone catch DEVO's concert from Central Park on Saturday night on ABC? I remember DEVO did their rounds of clubs in the mid seventies but didn't make it big till New Wave caught on in 79 or 80 and they had the monster hit Whip It. Watching this past Saturday night was pretty sad. They were a bunch of overweight guys in their mid fifties who sounded like a bunch of overweight guys in their mid fifties. (Looks like the drummer was a young guy though and not an original band member).
  11. Whenever you hear the song on radio it is indeed The Hollies. If Neil was singing it you wouldn't really care for it...I know I don't. You would recognize Neil's voice as it would sound like he has a frog in his throat.
  12. I am off of here shortly so may I ask for a hint as this has been driving me crazy the last day or two.....Was the writer also a performer?
  13. Hey hits....I see you live in Basking Ridge. One of my old stomping grounds. Actually my older brother lived there in the early 90's. Nice area. You are right, Nadine can be found on Dylan's Genuine Bootleg Series 2 (Disc 3). It was recorded at the Lone Star Cafe back in 1988.
  14. Check out this link...here you will find it mentioned that Dylan did Nadine. I do not believe it was on an album but then again neither were some of the Berry songs that the Beatles did. Bob Dylan covers Nadine
  15. Someone in his campaign would have to be pretty stupid to try that......especially since Bush never went past the U.S. borders during wartime in the sixties. Washington, T. Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Bush, Sr., and other presidents.....their commonality is they were all war heroes! I also recall reading there was a large movement to get MacArthur to run as well. I think the republican ads that appeared last week downplaying Kerry's wartime service to the point where they practically called it lies was shameful. I am republican myself and was quite ashamed of how the party was reckless in their ad. Just another reason for me to cross party lines this year. With regards to Nader.....I thought Nader's folks were questioned about the authenticity of signatures as in a couple of other states.
  16. Hey PSC...just seeing a title like that would give me reason to find something else to do, especially sleep. Now I want to see how many jump on this posting of yours and rip it apart as done to F911.....LOL.
  17. Are you referring to Kerry in your statement? If so, you need to get your facts straight. Kerry served two tours in Vietnam and to the best of my knowledge I do not recall him shooting himself. He served from 1968 to 1970 after volunteering for service in 1966 prior to graduating at Yale. One other question....why do you think Kerry was not a hero and instead to you he is a tool? He volunteered to serve in Nam, saved another from sure death without regard for his own life, and came back and voiced opposition to a war that was a mistake. There were thousands of soldiers who came back and did the same (opposed the war). They were all heroes.
  18. CD....any soldier of our armed services who goes to war is a hero. That would include Mr. Kerry. As far as his medals go, he earned them therefore he could do what he wants with them, he protested what he had returned from, and did not protest what America stood for but it's government's involvement in a war. Now while I don't agree with all of his actions of that time, he was within his rights to protest and did nothing illegal. Lastly, Mr. Kerry was indeed a hero who served his country well.
  19. I believe Chuck Berry is correct so I agree with Bluesboy. The Rolling Stones did alot of Chuck Berry tunes. Ones that I can come up with is Around and Around, Back In The USA, Bye Bye Johnny, Carol, Come On, Down the Road Apiece, Let It Rock, Little Queenie, I'm Talkin' Bout You & You Can't Catch Me. The Beatles did Carol, I'm Talkin' Bout You, Johhny B. Goode & Little Queenie. Bob Dylan did Nadine. Keep in mind these were all covers and I do not believe any of the songs were written for the three acts mentioned.
  20. My favorite is the Star Wars trilogy (chapters 4, 5 & 6). It took science fiction and fantasy to a new level in Hollywood. Another of my favorites is the Die Hard trilogy.
  21. I always said when I got old my last car would be a caddy. About the marketing strategy.....were they really offbase? Think of it, the song "Rock N' Roll" is over 30 years old and there were alot of 20 and 30 somethings listening to it when it first came out. They're in their 50's and 60's now so I would think they were not too far off base. The song I do not understand is Mitsubishi playing Ballroom Blitz by Sweet. Were they trying to match Caddy's choice of genre or perhaps they used the same ad agency?
  22. I would believe Woody Guthrie or Phil Ochs would have something to say about that. Weren't they Dylan's idols? There is also Paul Stookie of Peter, Paul and Mary fame.
  23. I would say that the British invasion is another genre in itself. The early Beatles, Herman's Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Dave Clark Five, The Searchers, and others had a distinct sound that separated them from the sound being produced here in the states. When I was a kid and we had AM radio turned up, when we heard a song for the first time we knew it was either American or British. I would definitely consider it a rock genre.
  24. Elton John's "Solar Prestige A Gammon" Oh ma cameo molesting Kee pa a poorer for tea Solar prestige a gammon Lantern or turbert paw kwee
  25. There is Doo-Wop, soul rock, glamour rock, classic rock, and my favorite.....pet rock!! (his name is Irving)
