Neil Sedaka did a couple of duets wth his daughter whose name escapes me. Donnie and Marie Osmond have done several duets. The Paris Sisters Patience and Prudence Nino Tempo and April Stevens are brother and sister. Ike and Tina Turner Carla Thomas and her dad, Rufus did some duets. Grover and Elmo on Sesame Street have done some duets...
  2. Do you remember Imus' Reverand Billy Sol Hargas?

  4. Lucy...I thoroughly enjoyed the premier episode. The second show disappointed me a little. I plan to watch this Wednesday to see where it goes. It does bear some similarites to Lord Of The Flies...sort of a Stephen King version. Let's review after week 3, ok?
  5. 70 wpm....and I do mean gross . about 40 wpm net.
  6. Ling Ting Tong by The Five Keys. Loved this great doo wop tune from the first time my big brother played the 45 in 1955. "Tai semoca boom dai yay, tai semoca boom!" I was 9 and had heard and liked hundreds of songs but this one really grabbed me. I played it over and over and over..... Mom hated it, though she thought it was funny.
  7. LOL...It's a lady's prerogative and I know MT won't mind. Hey MT...here's my vote for Tony Joe White's version, too. I congratulate you on a super idea. This is fun.
  8. It's looking like a boxed-set now.
  9. I wonder. Just how "ripe" is the Peach-lette anyway? Maybe she's just enjoying a self-imposed ban for a while. She'll come back fresh with her witty and on-the-mark comments.
  10. Love Roll With It. It reminds me of a Junior Walker and the All-Stars song, Roadrunner. And Yazz...is that the group that was fronted by Allison Moyet? That girl is so underrated. Talk about blue-eyed soul.
  11. Prisoner Of Love by Perry Como September 23, 1946. This baby went boom!
  12. It seems that (despite few exceptions) a singer has to either slant some of his/her music towards kids and/or issue a groovy video for VH1 or MTV. And, re: Derek and Butch Trucks...There was a pitcher in the 50's-60's named Virgil Trucks. A little fiction and fact from Uncle's Almanac.
  13. Along Comes Mary...yeah, The Association..no matter what they say. YOU decide... (lyrics) Every time I think that I'm the only one who's lonely Someone calls on me And every now and then I spend my time in rhyme and verse And curse those faults in me And then along comes Mary And does she want to give me kicks , and be my steady chick And give me pick of memories Or maybe rather gather tales of all the fails and tribulations No one ever sees When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch When vague desire is the fire in the eyes of chicks Whose sickness is the games they play And when the masquerade is played and neighbor folks make jokes As who is most to blame today And then along comes Mary And does she want to set them free, and let them see reality From where she got her name And will they struggle much when told that such a tender touch as hers Will make them not the same When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch And when the morning of the warning's passed, the gassed And flaccid kids are flung across the stars The psychodramas and the traumas gone The songs are left unsung and hung upon the scars And then along comes Mary And does she want to see the stains, the dead remains of all the pains She left the night before Or will their waking eyes reflect the lies, and make them Realize their urgent cry for sight no more When we met I was sure out to lunch Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch No, that song is not about the Virfgin Mary as some would have you believe. Here are a few more: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds...no matter what they say. 8 Miles High...no matter what they say. Puff The Magic Dragon...no matter what they say.
  14. Everybody knows that the bird is the word....dude. Sometimes I just forget. Oh, BTW....Bird!
  15. Teach Me Tonight...I recommend Phoebe Snow's version. Learning The Blues....Sinatra To Sir With Love...ever hear the version by Natalie Merchant and Michael Stipe? Great! Lulu's will do, too. Would You Like To Learn To Dance...Steve Goodman (very sweet) Walk This Way...nah, nevermind that one.
  16. Yes, picking a favorite song is nearly impossible. But, choosing one to possibly be included on your CD is somewhat easier. I humbly nominate: Grover Washington Jr.'s "Soulful Strut".
  17. No, not the group Snow. I want to put together a snow songs CD . I will of course be using: Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow (prob. Dean Martin's version). Snowfall (Tony Bennett or Manhattan Transfer) Don't Eat The Yellow Snow (Frank Zappa) Can you suggest any snow songs? I'm interested in both vocal and/or instrumental songs. Thank you.
