  1. ROTF-LMAO of course! That was funny Sara!!
  2. Interpret these lyrics: When I was a boy I thought about the times I'd be a man I'd sit inside a bottle and pretend that I was in a can In my lonely room I'd sit my mind in an ice cream cone You can throw me if you wanna 'cause I'm a bone and I go Oop-ip-ip oop-ip-ip - yeah If I don't start cryin' it's because that I have got no eyes My father's in the fireplace and my dog lies hypnotized Through a crack of light I was unable to find my way Trapped inside a night but I'm a day and I go Oop-ip-ip oop-ip-ip, yeah! It was '7 and 7 is' on the 45, and 'Seven & Seven Is' on the LP Love's only top 40 hit in mid-1966
  3. Who was the orchestral arranger on "The Wall" and what is his connection with Sherwood forrest? and Which artist animated "The Wall"? Who is he married to and who was her previous boyfriend? Who is her brother, and what was his partner called?
  4. Really?! I've never hear this, is it "recorded" or was it live? Where? When? This would be very interesting to me. All evidence is Pink Floyd Never Covered.
  5. There are songs that when you hear them or sing them they "immediatly" conjure up the film they came from or were popularized in or even lauched them into super-stardom. One I recently was looking up was "Plastic Jesus" from Cool Hand Luke, I don't care if it rains or freezes, long as I got my plastic Jesus sittin' on the dashboard of my car.... - Don't ya just love that movie? Another one is "Raindrops keep fallen from my head" by B.J. Thomas from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. Then of course there are more obviously the "classics" such as "Singin' in the rain" and "As Time goes by" - from Casablanca. So many songs that will forever be attached to a film.
  6. How many songs exsist in the Songfacts database? Should there be a "counter"? What was the original count (i.e. how many when Songfact.com made it's web debut?
  7. Carl and Sara eloped to the wedding chapel at the surprise of Sara (Carl was planning this all along), Catherine tried to get Mike to read the directions on "setting up a canopy" -but the direction are in french only *sigh* ("achtung...what's that mean?") ...meanwhile Ken is slaleming on the jet-ski and singing "Wastin' away again in Margaritaville..." ...Meanwhile Muzik buys another round....

  9. Synchronicity - The Police - 1983 Another suburban morning Grandmother screaming at the wall We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies We can't hear anything at all Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustration But we know all the suicides are fake Daddy only stares into the distance There's only so much more that he can take Many miles away something crawls from the slime At the bottom of a dark Scottish lake Another industrial ugly morning The factory belches filth into the sky He walks unhindered through the picket lines today He doesn't think to wonder why The secretaries pout and preen like cheap tarts on a red light street But all he ever thinks to do is watch And every single meeting with his so called superior Is a humiliating kick in the crotch Many miles away something crawls to the surface Of a dark Scottish Loch Another working day has ended Only the rush-hour hell to face Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes Contestants in a suicidal race Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance He knows that something somewhere has to break He sees the family home now looming in his headlight The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache Many miles away there's a shadow on a door Of a cottage by the shore Of a dark Scottish lake ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everyday People - Rush - 1993 In the house where nobody laughs And nobody sleeps In the house where love lies dying And the shadows creep A little girl hides, shaking, With her hands on her ears Pushing back the tears, 'til the pain disappears Mama says some ugly words Daddy pounds the wall They can fight about their little girl later Right now they don't care at all No matter what they say... No matter what they say... Everyday people Everyday shame Everyday promise Shot down in flames Everyday sunrise Another everyday story Rise from the ashes --- A blaze of everyday glory In the city where nobody smiles And nobody dreams In the city where desperation Drives the bored to extremes Just one spark of decency Against a starless night One glow of hope and dignity A child can follow the light No matter what they say No matter what they say... If the future's looking dark We're the ones who have to shine If there's no one in control We're the ones who draw the line Though we live in trying times --- We're the ones who have to try Though we know that time has wings --- We're the ones who have to fly Interesting; I thought ~Mike
  10. THE BEST EVER!! "The French Connection" Image link Second runner up... "Easy rider" with Fonda/Hopper
  11. Beth - Kiss Every Rose has it's thorn - Poison
  12. Peaches, you got it! It was not a "cut and dried" question either, I like to just toss "idea-questions" out to see (read) what peoples take is on them! Most the question I like to ask have no "real" answer, only "perspectives" --I like peoples perspectives, even if I don't agree!!
  13. What is it? And I already know what Merriam-Webster has to say on the subject... Um, I have my own interpretations, what is it to you?
  14. Opiate - The Eagles .. good call! I don't recall any cover there. Ant - Rush did NOT cover .... however, Feedback ! due out on 6/29/04 is 9 covers recorded and they no longer qualify!
  15. How many bands have recorded "zero" cover songs? Pink Floyd I know has not. Can you name one or more?
  16. Well this may not be much... I know that this was the time Bowie started feeling comfortable writing songs, especially life on mars and changes. Changes started out as a parody of a nightclub song, a kind of throwaway. But people kept chanting for it at concerts, Dave had no idea it was going to become such a great hit! Also, He once appeared with a circus elephant called "Changes" on stage. Mike
  17. This IS by far my most favorite aspects about being a members and a co moderator here is the level of respect and courtesy that member display, I cannot speak for the administration or the other mods here, but I myself have a huge appreciation for this boards integrity!! Sure we can get a little silly at times, have a "heated" discussion and agree to disagree. My own personal opservation - I've never seen a flame on this board, the old extinquisher looks worse than a maytag repairman...

    Shrek 2

Just saw this yesterday with the family. I really liked the first one so I thought the sequel would be pretty good too. Well the plot was good, the characters creative and my expectations were met. But I thought about it after words, what did Shrek (the original) have that 2 did not? I.E. It did not exceed my expectations. Well aside of the "newness" or originality, if you will, experience with the first one - (#1 reason sequels tank is they lack the same spark of originality, and seem like a regurgitated original) the music score! -that's what was missing!! Oh 2 had music, but the fiorst one opened with a very catchy tune and closed with and even catchier tune. In fact, I was watching a special on VH1 on the making of Shrek (orig) and their goal was to have the audience dancing out of the theater! When test audiences proved this goal they new they had a winning combination of visual and musical magic. So don't get me wrong, Shrek 2 is ok, worth a matinee price of admission and delivers some very funny and entertaining moments, it just lacks the "snap" the original has and maintains! Anyone else seen this yet? Thoughts, comments?
  19. John Lennon put "himself" into his music and lyrics, he made statements. Johns music was about life, it was serious and determined, he wanted to make people think! Paul McCartney wanted to have fun and make light "pop" songs that made people happy and want to sing along. He didn't think it was necessary to get heavy! George Harrison like a middle child in a family; wanted to travel the road less travels and then got all religious and in search of mind in soul on a journey and his music was diverse and unlike either Lennon or McCartney and he cut a new path for himself. Richard Starkey aka - Ringo Starr Never was meant to stand on his own, a voice that made Bob Dylan sound like Robert Plant, and lyrical high points which were peaked with the no no song (yuck). summary: Lennon would have blended well with grunge rock,he had a lyrical wit and told it like it was! McCartney could easily tour with Britney or Christina and George was best mixing it up with the Clapton and Ravi and never really was great, "All things must pass" is awesome stuff though.
  20. I'm into some Christian music, I just have a tough time with the real slow soft stuff. I've got some P.O.D., and Third Day I also like Switchfoot. But what I really dig for christian music ~TREE63~ they really have a great sound and mix it up good in style. About the only music I really, really don't care for is Gangsta-rap (women/minority/authority bashing hate crap) and depressing country western music (you know, my dog is dead my wife is doing my best friend, bug-zappers broken and I just drank my last beer ...oh whoa-hoho is me). But of course -- Rush, Pink Floyd and Yes occupies my ears most of the time! ::
  21. Heartbreaker When the levy breaks Fool in the rain Carouselambra oh heck -- LZ4, HotH and PG are awesome through and through.
  22. First things first - I'm giving my avatar a star-studed greeting today ! I hadn't even thought about these stars since I first started posting (Sept/Oct.) and gave Ken, Carl, Sara, HDThoreau (aka -for sweet Amy) ratings in-which I graciously handed out night-skies filled with stars!! So while I cannot offer you answers to why there have been fallen stars, or even shooting stars. I can tell you that for all of you that are obviously star struck here, I would be hapier if I had no stars at all. That's right "0"!! Gold stars are for the elite, for the special ones, top o' the class and such, never was I that! Nor do I ever desire to be. I'm just an ordinary average guy living an ordinary average life. I do not subscribe to rating systems or titles or any of that B.S! I just want to have a place I can share thoughts and ideas about music, and life and stuff with my friends and stuff. I say "do away with the stars" start with me. Take 'em all away and leave me here to stand on my own self-rating system (I'd give my self 10 anyway) hahahha Party-on and have a fun and safe weekend!! Mike Mike high-five-stars the whole board!!
  23. Well I thought, Chad Romero's "Hippy hippy shake", that was 1959, was the first top 40 to contain such lyics (hippy that is). He was born in Billings, Mt. though? So I have no idea who #2 would be --- assuming I am correct in him being the first.
  24. From Jayson9903 in another thread. Sounds like Spyware! Follow this link - Adware download They say 9/10 computers have spyware on them. I've been told pest patrol is one of the best tools to prevent it from loading on your PC but the afforementioned Adware is free to download. Most spyware is harmless tracking "cookies" but some can be used to "hijack" your computer and steal info from it. Even use you hard drive to sponsor web content!! :: FYI.
  25. My wife gave me this idea when she took my son to the build-a-bear store --- You've heard of superbands?!! ?Lead guitarist - ?Rhythm guitarist (optional)- ?Acoustic guitarist (optional)- ?Bassist - ?Percussionist - ?Keyboards - ?Lead vocals - ?other instrument ( )- assuming they could all work together and create a chemistry (insert lottery odds here) It just sounded like fun to see what you all would come up with.
