  1. Great topic! Lady Fantasy- Camel Listen very carefully, my words are about to unfold Concerning a lady I've seen but I never could hold I can see by your smile, Take a long while, The words that come through, I see that they're true, For she reminds me of you. Don't misunderstand me, it's not always easy to say The words in your head and your heart that you just can't explain I can see clearly, A face in the sky, Moon's in your eye, You're passing me by. Tell me the reason why. I can see clearly, A face in the sky, Moon's in your eye, You're passing me by. Saw you riding on a moon cloud, Saw you walking on a whirlpool, From the corner of my eye, I saw you. Saw you sitting on a sunbeam, In the middle of my daydream, Oh my Lady Fantasy, I love you. I Will- The Beatles Who knows how long I've loved you, You know I love you still, Will I wait a lonely lifetime? If you want me to I will And if I ever saw you I didn't catch your name But it never really mattered I will always feel the same Love you forever, and forever Love you with all my heart Love you whenever we're together Love you when we're apart And when at last I find you, This song will fill the air Sing it loud so I can hear you Make it easy to be near you All the things you do endear you to me Oh, you know I will (typed from memory. I love that song.)
  2. Can I be Rock Bottom Feeder? (Robert Wyatt album- "Rock Bottom", 1974)
  3. I have a 1954 West German factory viola. I like it a lot.
  4. yeah Batman, I've been thinking, and I know a lot of other people my age are thinking the same thing, that I'm never going to own a car. it just doesn't sound like a lot of fun. apart from driving, which I enjoy. but the commuting, paying for gas, maintaining, emitting greenhouse gas and all just seems to outweigh the effort of biking or bussing places.
  5. yes! my mom was in the theatre watching that when she went into labour with me, so I guess that's why I like it.
  6. I wouldn't say that Zappa is overly musically complex, at least not in a way that makes it hard to listen to his music. A good place to start would be "Hot Rats", the music on it is pretty accessible and you can really enjoy his guitar playing. A friend of mine once described his tone as "raunchy" and I think that really says it well. As for King Crimson, they do get complex at times, but the band's sound has changed a lot throughout it's career, largely due to the many line-up changes.
  7. my cell phone is a three year old piece of crap but I can play soccer with it
  8. I'm glad you got out of there alive! damn I'm scared of stuff like that I'm just learning how to drive luckily, my inability to work the clutch is stopping me from getting into any dangerous highway situations
  9. I just read "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. Excellent.
  10. I find conversation enders much more useful
  11. Lions For Lambs- didn't actually finish it, didn't think it would be worth the time. poorly done- it came across as preachy, and the characters were shallow and unconvincing. oh well.
  12. Well I'd say that on the whole I prefer Genesis or Tull to Yes- the first two tracks on Close To The Edge are great, and they have their other high points, but their discography is inconsistent. I'm really liking my Canterbury right now though: Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt, Caravan...
  13. Geogaddi- Boards of Canada Comicopera- Robert Wyatt I'm excited.
  14. Two chicken samosas and a litre of high quality "Avalon" chocolate milk. an excellent dinner.
  15. one Pirates of The Caribbean movie was enough, I didn't really like the second or third
  16. YES!!! well I was gonna save that one for when we do concept albums (it really is the mother of all concept albums) but it has my vote now anyways. what makes Thick As A Brick such a great concept album is that the concept extends beyond the music. While Gerald "Little Milton" Bostock didn't exist, and the lyrics were written by Ian Anderson, he also created a fictional small town's newspaper (which makes up the album's sleeve and liner notes) with stories about Bostock and his poem as well as many other things. Thick As A Brick works better than many of the pretentious concept albums released at the time because it has more than a little humour thrown in, making it a lot easier to accept than an album by a band that seems to take itself too seriously (not that I have anything against Yes).
  17. that's a good pick the beach boys are seeing a revival, in my group of friends at least I grew up on them, and have always liked them but it was uncool to like them until recently now they're a "major influence" of bands such as animal collective, so it's acceptable to listen to them
  18. yeah DSOTM was certainly groundbreaking and is also great but I really don't like The Wall
  19. DSOTM may have been groundbreaking, but The Wall sure as hell wasn't.
