  1. Every Breath You Take...the ultimate obsessive stalker tune...yeah, I'd be a little freaked out.
  2. Ballad Masters? From "Baby What a Big Surprise" to "You're The Inspiration"...I'll go with Chicago. Baby What a Big Surprise Beginnings Colour My World Hard Habit to Break Hard to Say I Sorry I Don?t Wanna Live Without Your Love I?ve Been Searching If She Would Have Been Faithful If You Leave Me Now Look Away Love Me Tomorrow Will You Still Love Me Wishing You Were Here You're The Inspiration
  3. A guy playing "Having My Baby" by Paul Anka would have ended things for me. I'd probably have done something terribly crude to make him not like me ...or mean He'd have been calling me a taxi and I'd have been calling him "forgettable".
  4. I'll have to say GEORGE HARRISON is also my personal favorite: he seemed liked such a sweet, thoughtful person - just a really great guy.
  5. Yeah, well, Scott Staph...I mean Stapp, may sound a lot like Ed Vedder, but he's trippin' if he thinks Pearl Jam fans will ever accept him ...no more than Led Zeppelin fans were won over by a Robert Plant wannabe named David Coverdale! Scotty Boy needs to lay off the bong water!
  6. My heart went out to Kurt when he died, because I felt like he must have been suffering like hell so deep inside - his pain came out in his lyrics. Kurt was a beautiful but tragic soul...as was Jim Morrison. Kurt was outwardly quiet, shy and brooding, but his words said so much - he told it like it was. Jim was anything but quiet, so there is misconception that whatever he suffered from was drug and booze induced; however, Jim's words were dark and mysterious and full metaphors, and reading between the lines isn't as easily done. These two men dealth with things differently, but we could read Kurt like an open book; we could almost see it coming. Jim's death was a shock, but he apparently knew his end was coming - and some of his words are so deep and disturbing that it's taken years to try to read into -- without much success. On Jim being a drunk...well, we cannot dispute that - it was and is common knowledge that he had a problem, but more people than not will dispute that he was not a poet. People who knew Jim have described him as a very sensitive, loving, compassionate and sweet guy...something one would never see beyond his antics, arrests, and at times, his downright obnoxiousness. The truth about both men is that they were real, and whatever pain and darkness came out in their lyrics and poetry, be it on the surface or buried deep -- they were what they wrote about. May both their souls rest in the peace they never had in the physical world.
  7. Not me: Nirvana is not my favorite...mine is The Doors...talk about not moving on. Nirvana were pioneers of sorts, but what they were pioneers of seems to have faded away with Kurt's death. Nirvana were not nearly in the same league as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, or any other classic rock band...true pioneers that paved the way for others -- the one's whose musical influence can be heard in countless bands. When Nirvana was around, life wasn't nearly as tumultuous as the 60's and 70's: sexual revolution, war, civil rights, etc. The classic bands came out during this era and gave people a feeling of freedom in a time when things were so rigid and restrictive...they had a hand in creating changes in the way people think, feel, and act. What major, life altering influence did Nirvana really contribute? IMO, however, the death of Kurt, did have the same impact on people that Jim Morrison's death did, but the death of Kurt seems to have had a more profound affect on the younger generation; whereas, people who weren't yet born when Jim died worship him to this day. Can worship of Kurt last 33 years? Time will tell.
  8. It's a close battle for #1 between two of my favorite debuts: - The Doors - Pearl Jam IMO...they are both amazing Other favorites are: - Boston - Guns N' Roses
  9. What's that I see up there...ta-ta's? Naughty, naughty boy! It's hilarious!
  10. Because I CAN...because you can't reach me through your PC! Ha ha! ::
  11. That is the first song/car commercial misfit I thought of when I read this thread title. When you think Caddy (excluding the SUV's), you envision 70-something year old men with hats, driving 20 mph in a 40 mph zone. What genius came up with that brilliant marketing strategy?! Someone "Dazed and Confused" undoubtedly. Nissan a commercial for the 2000 Sentra, for which they used "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Cult, and for the 2001 Sentra they used "Bargain" by The Who. For the Sentra?! Oh, now there's a real kick a$$ car! ::
  12. I have a lot of favorite songs, but my ultimate favorite? LA Woman: The Doors This song just does it for me! It's one of those songs that has so many different things going on at once: fast, smoky, trippy, sultry, sexy, wild, spiritual, sensual, primal, clear, raspy, raw, real...magic! I've never liked a song as much as LA Woman...it's always been my #1 tune!
  13. I though Jim was arrested for playing with his skin flute. :: ::
  14. There are general similarities. Ed is actually pretty quiet until something gets him going. Jim was usually quiet until he got drunk. Ed will bring wine on stage...don't know if he ever got falling down drunk. Both are known for spewing venom and getting carried away with their angst. Ed's never been arrested onstage like Jim was. Ed was arrested, however, for allegedly beating the daylights out of some guy in a bar many years ago. I don't recall hearing about Jim getting into fights - except with his personal demons. Jim had a nice voice - a clear voice, as does Ed, but Jim's vocal range wasn't that great; Ed has amazing range. Jim grunted, howled and screamed a great deal - on and off stage. Ed does this, but mostly during live shows. Both Ed and Jim are/were amazing song writers. Neither Jim or Ed considered themselves good singers. Both hated their father/stepfather. Both wrote about angry childhood/teen years; Jim's writing was more hidden/twisted in the lines of his poetry, while Ed was more obvious. Ed talked more about it publicly, whereas Jim just listed his parents as dead. Jim was, and Ed is very charismatic. Jim was openly sensual and sexual, free, and comfortable with it. Ed doesn't project those characteristics openly, but many women find him sexy. Affinity for the organ? I'm not touching this one: it's too ambiguous. ::
  15. Mine is a picture of my twin...the real me was having a bad hair day. :: J/K...it's me, and fortunately for my parents, (though my mom is a triplet), I was not twins!
  16. Just make sure you have a penny or two handy to place on the turntable arm, right atop the needle...you know, for the skippy scratchies. ::
  17. 1. Favortie flavor of ice cream = Chocolate 2. The last movie you saw in a theater? = Finding Nemo 3. Your PBnJ: Crusts on or cut off = On 4. First celebrity crush? = Andy Gibb; age 9 5. Ink pens: blue or black ink? = Blue ink 6. Favorite color? = Blue & Purple 7. Spend $100 in 5 minutes? = Household stuff 8. What is your favorite cereal? Cheerios Triple Berry 9. Choose A B C and tell why you picked it = B; it was stuck in a rut and needed to get out for a while 10. A quote that says a lot about you. It's not always what you say; it's how you say it
  18. I actually like "When I Need You" by Leo Sayer...it's pretty. I love Simon and Garfunkel too! Hey, if I can admit to listening to Barry Manilow, and loving the songs "Rocky Mountain High" and "Annie's Song" by John Denver, you guys have nothing to be embarrassed about! But you know what, my son just turned 8...oh, what a terrific tool for embarrassing him in front of his little friends when he gives me a hard time. And I will sing along - loudly and purposely off key to really make him hate me! ::
  19. You must have beads for curtains in your doorway and macrame plant holders. Your kitchen appliances have to be either goldenrod or avacado in color. You need a turntable - no CD's; or you can get an eight track player. Your need an AM radio, and a TV in which you have to actually get off your duff and turn the dial to change the station (and don't forget the rabbit ears for what little reception you hope to get). Oh my God, we had a terrible childhood!
  20. I already answered this: Led Zeppelin (foreign), but it would be The Doors (home grown)
  21. Don't know which specific GLORIA song you are referring to, but I can think of a few artists that have had tunes called GLORIA: Van Morrison and The Doors did the same GLORIA U2 has a different song called GLORIA Laura Brannigan has a different song called GLORIA
  22. Ugh! I also though this was going to be about THE CULT, or Southern Death Cult, as they started off as; they are one of my favorite bands! My favorite "The" Cult tunes are too numerous to list in an unrelated thread! My favorite cult tune = "Love is the Drug" by Roxy Music.
  23. Well, I wasn't going to bring it up :: but I LOVE the Bee Gee's - from their ballads to their disco that made John Travolta a star! Lonely Days, which to me in reminiscent of Instant Karma by John Lennon is a great tune. Favorite ballads: - How Deep is Your Love - Fanny (Be Tender With My Love) - though I hate the title - Love So Right - To Love Somebody Favorite disco tunes: - You Should Be Dancin' - Jive Talkin' Favorite song verse: You are the reason for my laughter and my sorrow; blow out the candle I will burn again tomorrow. No man on earth can stand between my love and I; and no matter how you hurt me I will love you till I die I have always thought that Barry Gibb was gorgeous, as was Andy (RIP)! The other two...well, Maurice (RIP) was the good looking twin, while Robin looks like Bucky Beaver. Andy drank heavily, as did Maurice, and they both died of stomach ailments. Well actually, Maurice died during surgery of cardiac arrest. Nonetheless, do you think perhaps it was something hereditary and not alcohol related?
