  1. I bet W. knows who Eric Clapton is.
  2. Is question B "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers Band?
  3. Yay Darryl's back!! I got the stamps you sent, they are superb! I just have to find a frame now. I hope you had a wonderful vacation!
  4. I got a 48! 41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out. I sure like to think this is pretty darn accurate. At least I find myself amusing... ::
  5. That looks like a list of songs recorded...? I have yet to find a song that is credited to being written by Elvis Presley. I never realized Frank Zappa recorded that many songs... wow! Where did you find that list? That's a great list.
  6. Yeah, they're going to be at the Minnesota State Fair!!
  7. You know, I think that would do it. That was ultimately the line I was stuck on, but I really couldn't figure out why. It sounds much better without having it there at all.
  8. Sounds like a grunge rock song. Kind of Nirvana-like. The only thing that doesn't seem to fit as well is the two opening lines. Not sure why, but when I read them, they just don't quite seem right.
  9. Looking at the music listing on AMG, it looks like Ray Davies wrote at least 90% of the songs they've recorded. The Beatles were very much divided between lyrics written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, so that lessens their accredited songs. But I'm guessing McCartney has written more songs then Lennon. So I'm saying a good battle would be Bob Dylan vs. Paul McCartney vs. Ray Davies vs....? Neil Young seems to have written a lot of songs, but primarily recorded by himself or the bands he was in.
  10. Kind of off-topic but somewhat pertains to the subject matter. Did Elvis write any music at all? Or were all his songs written by other people? I can't seem to find a single song with "Elvis Presley" as the accredited composer. If that's the case, then I would say Bob Dylan takes the award for most songs written period. We sure know how to grow them here in Minnesota!
  11. Yeah, there's a lot of duplicates on there. But can you imagine writing 300 songs in 10 years? 500 songs in 40 years seems understandable, but 300 in 10 years is a lot. Of course, you also could look at the lyrical structure in a Dylan song compared to a Beatles song. Which one typically has a long verse with non-repetative words...?
  12. I don't think non-songs qualify as songs written. And does the "rare" count include live versions of recorded songs or demo versions of recorded songs? If that's the case, then they're being counted multiple times.
  13. Suzy's favorite number is 69...! That rules! ::
  14. Oh yeah, that's the UK release set. I was thinking of the US release set which was all messed up. And you definitely cannot forget about the Rolling Stones. They've been recording for an awfully long time. Looking at AMG (not including LIVE albums), it looks like the Rolling Stones have ~28, Bob Dylan ~32, Neil Young ~32... these are kind of loose counts. I was trying to count only albums that appear to be studio albums. But, I know that Bob Dylan has written a lot of songs for other artists. I'm not sure about Neil Young or the Stones.
  15. So to get back to the subject of the thread... Bob Dylan has written over 500 songs either for himself or for others. If you don't include The Beatles during solo years, I'd have to say their number is closer to 300. I believe they had around 16 or 17 actual studio albums during their time together. It's a little unfair to include their solo years, because then you're comparing 1 writer to 4 seperate writers. I wonder how many Neil Young has written?
  16. I just ordered "The Band"... yay! But then I realized it didn't have this song on it, but that's okay.
  17. Elvish said it was a phase for her, not as a general statement for everyone. It simply means that she liked it for a period of time and then grew tired of it. I've been through a couple musical phases in my lifetime. Although none of them involved Christian music.
  18. oh, yeah, no that's all right. I don't listen to Christian music. Just not my thing. I don't need to listen to people singing about religion in that way.
  19. It sounds like a story being told by an outcast. Someone that does not feel they have been able to fit in with the rest of the world. They strive for individuality, but realize that, in the end, society will bring down our ways of becoming an individual. Maybe I'm reading into it too much. I really like it though.
  20. what's Petra? I said I'm Christian, not a devout Christian or a well-learned one. I have an actual religion affiliation, but I won't go there right now.
  21. Not really what I was referring to...
  22. It's good, but the line "But I'm writing me a letter" doesn't quite sound right with the word "me" in it. I do like how you bring in a happy statement with the sadness and anger being felt throughout.
  23. Well, it's an annual event, so there will be plenty of chances to come. It'll be hard to top last years line-up, but I'd say they're doing a pretty good job so far.
