  2. For following your dreams, this fits the bill. Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes Jimmy Buffett I took off for a weekend last month Just to try and recall the whole year All of the faces and all of the places Wonderin' where they all disappeared I didn't ponder the question too long I was hungry and went out for a bite Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum And we wound up drinkin' all night It's these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of our running and all of our cunning If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane Reading departure signs in some big airport Reminds me of the places I've been Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure Makes me want to go back again If it suddenly ended tomorrow I could somehow adjust to the fall Good times and riches and son of a bitches I've seen more than I can recall These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same Through all of the islands and all of the highlands If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane I think about Paris when I'm high on red wine I wish I could jump on a plane So many nights I just dream of the ocean God I wish I was sailin' again Oh, yesterday's over my shoulder So I can't look back for too long There's just too much to see waiting in front of me And I know that I just can't go wrong With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of my running and all of my cunning If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane If we couldn't laugh we just would go insane If we weren't all crazy we would...... go......... insane Ken.
  3. Cole, you are more than likely 'good enough'. The hell with whoever doesn't 'want' you. I'll bet someone out there does. If The Phone Doesn't Ring (It's Me) Jimmy Buffett There are oceans of feelings between us Currents that take us and sweep us away That's why we seldom have seen us In the light of a cold hard day Lots of new friends with the same old answers Open your eyes, you might see Of our lives were that simple We'd live in the past If the phone doesn't ring, it's me If the phone doesn't ring You'll know that it's me I'll be out in the eye of the storm If the phone doesn't ring you'll know that I'll be Where someone can make me feel warm It's too bad we can't turn and live in the past If the phone doesn't ring, it's me I've had good days and bad days And going half mad days I try to let go but you're still on my mind I've lost all the old ways I'm searching for new plays Putting it all on the line Lots of new friends with the same old problems Open your eyes, you might see If our lives were that simple We'd live in the past If the phone doesn't ring, it's me If it takes all the future We'll live through the past If the phone doesn't ring, it's me Ken.

  5. I rented this film last night after hearing a small blurb about it on NPR. What a film. I simply cannot believe that it has been around for ten years and I had never watched it. Starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy as Jesse and Celine, they are two travellers whose paths happen to cross on a train from Budapest to France. Jesse has to disembark in Vienna and asks Celine to spend the night walking around Vienna with him and taking in the sights. With each step and each word exchanged, the two fall deeper and irretrievably in love with one another. They talk about everything from sex, to their parents, music and television and we the viewer are drawn to them. Director Richard Linklater allows Hawke and Delphy the space to develop their characters and give them depth and texture. You care about them and want to know more. There isn't much in the way of action and absolutely no special effects here, rather, everything is in the dialogue. And as the viewer, we know that these two must part in the morning. How that is to be handles is answered in the equally-great "Before Sunset", which takes place nine years after. If you like films along these lines, you'll not be disapponted. Honest. Ken.
  6. I'm willing to bet it was a Catholic ceremony. Wedding Song (There Is Love) ?1971 Public Domain Foundation He is now to be among you at the calling of your hearts Rest assured this troubadour is acting on His part. The union of your spirits, here, has caused Him to remain For whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name There is Love, there is Love. A man shall leave his mother and a woman leave her home And they shall travel on to where the two shall be as one. As it was in the beginning is now and til the end Woman draws her life from man and gives it back again. And there is Love, there is Love. Well then what's to be the reason for becoming man and wife? Is it love that brings you here or love that brings you life? And if loving is the answer, then who's the giving for? Do you believe in something that you've never seen before? Oh there is Love, there is Love. Oh the marriage of your spirits here has caused Him to remain For whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name There is Love, there is Love. Hope that helped. Ken.
  7. The Knack - 1979 "My Sharona" Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one. When you gonna give me some time, Sharona? Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run. Gun it comin' off the line Sharona Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona... Come a little closer huh, ah will ya huh. Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona. Keeping it a mystery gets to me Running down the length of my thighs, Sharona Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona... When you gonna give it to me, give it to me. It is just a matter of time Sharona Is it just destiny, destiny? Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona? Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona... Ken.
  8. The Band is from Ontario, Canada (my very own home province). The best documentary I've seen on them is "The Last Waltz". They perform "It Makes No Difference", and it is about the sweetest, saddest song I've heard. Check it out if the chance presents itself. It makes no difference where I turn I can' get over you and the flame still burns It makes no difference night or day Your shadow never seems to fade away And the sun don't shine anymore... And the rains fall down on my door... Now there's no love As true as the love that dies untold but the clouds never hung so low before It makes no difference how far I go Like a scar the hurt will always show It makes no difference who I meet They're just a face in the crowd on a dead end street And the sun don't shine anymore... And the rains fall down on my door... These old love letters I just can't keep but just like the gambler says read 'em and weep And the dawn don't rescue me no more... Without your love I am nothing at all like an empty hole It's a lonely fall Since you've gone it's a losing battle stampeding cattle that rattle the walls And the sun don't shine anymore... And the rains fall down on my door... Well I love you so much and its all I can do just to keep myself from telling you that I've never felt so alone before Regards always, Ken.

  11. "Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no river wide enough, ain't no valley low enough, to keep me from gettin' to you babe.." Pretty much self-explanitory. She is telling the subject of the song that there is no obstacle that will keep her from loving him. Ken.
  12. No, just someone trying to make people laugh. It's in woeful short supply.
  13. "Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw)?" Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.
  14. I have seen the Blues Brothers over well in excess of 200 times. I know the dialogue front to back. The best movie I have ever seen and I wouldn't be around if it weren't for Belushi and Ackroyd's Jake and Elwood. Ken.
  15. That's why I love the album, "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads". They were never called "The" Talking Heads. Ken.
  16. What makes you think he would have to endure that? Mark David Chapman has 3 squares and exercise daily and he killed Lennon!
  17. It is specific, but it eliminates the need for guesswork, thus making it a lot easier....
  18. Khia "My Neck, My Back". The key to good songwriting is to be specific. She gets all 5 stars. You'll have to look the lyrics up via Google... Ken.
  19. There used to be a guy back in the '70's by the name of Joe Wise, he was pretty good. I went to a Catholic school, and he was played frequently. Songs like "Be A New Man" and "Teach us to Pray" are some of the ones I remember. Some of Cat Stevens earlier music borders on religious themes, "Morning Has Broken", etc. I think Sinead O'Connor has recorded the Kyrie and the Lord's Prayer. The best of all those is my very own Ma singing Ave Maria, but Ma never landed a recording contract. If you wanna hear her you have to go to Sacred Heart church, 11AM Sunday mass, her and Dad sit 4 rows from the front, and have since '68. Ken.
  20. The live album that defined live rock albums... "When your down in the dumps, and you need something to bring you up, there's only one thing gonna do it the way you want it!"
