johnny
This is just like the other topics except it's what are you learning/playing on whatever instrument you playing. You might be learning the solo to "Whole Lotta Love" on guitar.... You could be playing drums to "Burn" by Deep Purple.... Or maybe the bass to "My Generation".... So lets hear it guys, what are you playing....?
Kimmy
I am "trying" to learn the acoustic guitar; I only play by ear. I watch videos on Youtube, and try to play along. Maybe one day, I will take some lessons. :guitar:

Super Ry 71
Poor lad. I've been learning Cream's 'Sunshine Of Your Love' and Pink Floyd's 'In The Flesh?' on guitar (electric and acoustic, alternatively).

johnny
I am currently trying to learn "Girl From North Country" by Bob Dylan and "I Wish That I Was Beautiful For You" by Darren Hanlon. Both are two beautiful acoustic songs....
Kimmy
I was trying to play along with this song earlier tonight. One problem I have; I don't stick with one song long enough to learn it well. City of Lies by The Charles Shaw Project YouTube
Foolonthehill
I'm learning Bruch's Kol Nidrei on my viola (actually a cello piece, but whatever) and attempting Mood For A Day on my nylon string acoustic.
c_s_1987
Whenever I get the time I practise on my nylon acoustic guitar: Classical Gas - Mason Williams Mood For A Day - Steve Howe Dream On - Aerosmith Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers Aqualung - Jethro Tull Angie - The Rolling Stones
Foolonthehill
I much prefer nylon strings to steel for acoustic guitars. They let you do real vibrato and are much better suited to finger picking. They also don't have that percussive clicking sound which annoys me on steel strings. It can, of course, be used for good, to add bite to the start of notes, but for all purpose playing I prefer nylon strings. Foolonthehill
Just out of musical curiosity, does anyone here have any experience with mandolins? I'm particularly interested in experimenting on using one with a pickup run through my amp...it would be a much easier instrument for me to play than guitar since the strings are in fifths. blind-fitter
A friend and I have decided we might descend upon a local "open mic" session to render a few choice numbers. We are currently working on "Psycho", which I always thought was by Australian country / blues combo The Beasts Of Bourbon, but is in fact a much older song, which has also been covered by Elvis Costello on his "Almost Blue" album. Me and my mate have never played together before, and I'm a bit rusty: it's a bit of a struggle playing and vocalising at the same time. Dunno if this "open mic" will ever come to pass, but if it does, I'll let you know.
daslied
Re: "playing and vocalising at the same time" I learned a trick long ago that works like a champ for me. Decide which of the parts is the harder one (the instrument or the vocal), and concentrate on the other one. Like I said, works for me...
