Steel2Velvet Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 In a paragraph or less, what does the term "Rock and Roll" conjure, for you? To me it means musical dissent. Music that disdains, but borrows from, its pristinely structured predecessors, blended with primary worldwide rythmns and restructured; in order to address, musically, unmet emotional needs of its adherents.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Heartpounding, sexual, rebellious, euphoric, hypnotic, soulful, and everlasting.
Uncle Joe Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It'll never last. We're at that young fool's stage And we're livin' in a rock and roll age" ~The Four Jays-1958
Otokichi Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 (edited) Tomorrow's Classical music. Yes, that's a reference to "Futurama." Edited March 22, 2007 by Guest I wrote about the original meaning...
Ken Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 In a paragraph or less, what does the term "Rock and Roll" conjure, for you? To me it means musical dissent. THIS is rock and roll.
OLD 55 Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Simple ! It was the first music FOR the 'Kids' (teenagers). (And about 45 years before that AC/DC song, Ken).
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 to add to my answer....freedom, the freedom to play the music that you want, that you need, that you desire...
Rayzor Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 I gotta agree with Ken... that video is Rock n Roll at it's purest!
Rayzor Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 This is the history of Rock... listen to the lyrics and it will all become clear! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deV_tXedY8c
KlassenT Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 While we're engaging in the Rock and Roll video war, here's my contribution. This has always been one of my favorite clips, and I was blown away to have found it on Youtube. People say I was born a few decades too late, but Rock & Roll has, to me, always been less about the rebellion, more about uniting, bringing everyone together under one common banner, even if it's just for a few choruses. Behold. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVEUbIgJa9Q
Mike Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I don't disagree with Ken often, but, I must step in here, because, real rock n roll deserves a proper flagship video! And.... THIS IS IT RIGHT HERE!
