Levis
Here it's kebab late at night when all the pubs close and fish and chips the rest of the time, I guess. same here. Well, I remember having souvlaki from the place next door to the bar we were at. I think what they call 'souvlaki' here is actually a doner kabab. It's shredded lamb wrapped in pita with veggies. Souvlaki just means the meat, right?
edna
I'd love them better if they had no meat. Vegetables is enough for me... I take away the lamb or whatever it is.
Levis
well that's good - I only like the meat, the rest of the stuff is just in the way.

Farin
actually, souvlaki should have the meat on a skewer, not in a bread with veggies - that's how I know it anyway also, souvlaki is greek, while kebab is turkish on the other hand it's both lamb, so it's not THAT different
The Seeker
And a proper kebab should be beef, not lamb. (or turkey? Not lamb anyway, but unfortunately most places use lamb) Edited August 26, 2009 by Guest
Farin
I think the original turkish one is made with lamb (who knows what they actually put in it though )
Lissy
the meat is good wait...great but i do like having other things in it too like tabuli and cheese.what do you guys think?
The Seeker
Well yes of course, otherwise you could just order the meat (I'm looking at you Radhi). Great, now I've got serious cravings.
Levis
I could actually - do you think they'll let me? There's a souvlaki (doner kabab to you) place down the street (same post-bar one) - they shouldn't have anything against someone saying 'I'd like just the meat pls' right? Farin
of course there's other stuff in it as well, kraut, chopped tomatoes and cucumbers, maybe onions and most importantly: the sauces but no cheese though and I have no idea what tabuli is

edna
I have one kebab like the one you posted in my microwave, Martin... without meat (my husband already removed it for me) I might eat it now cause yes, I have cravings too... Lissy, that dish you mention is delicious, we call it "taboulet" in France and it's the typical Morocco food... it's made out of "semoule" they call "couscous". You can have it cold with a salad ot hot with meat.
