Mike
There are songs that when you hear them or sing them they "immediatly" conjure up the film they came from or were popularized in or even lauched them into super-stardom. One I recently was looking up was "Plastic Jesus" from Cool Hand Luke, I don't care if it rains or freezes, long as I got my plastic Jesus sittin' on the dashboard of my car.... - Don't ya just love that movie? Another one is "Raindrops keep fallen from my head" by B.J. Thomas from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. Then of course there are more obviously the "classics" such as "Singin' in the rain" and "As Time goes by" - from Casablanca. So many songs that will forever be attached to a film. cindy17838
Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" from "Apocalypse Now". I'm not a big fan of Wagner but every time I hear the piece I picture Duval's helicopters approaching the beach. I know the piece is from an opera but there isn't any singing so I consider it symphony. Easiest way to improve an opera is to not let anyone sing and call it a symphony. Tom Petty's "American Girl" from the parking lot scene at the start of "Fast times at Ridgemont High" The Stones' "Gimme Shelter" from "Casino" Yello's "Oh Yeah" from the bus scene at the end of "Ferris Buehlers Day off" Simple Mind's "Don't you forget about me" from the "Breakfast Club" where John Bender is walking across the practice fields after getting out of Saturday detention. Kenny Loggins' "I'm Alright", the dancing gopher song from "Caddyshack" The Soggy Bottom Boys' "Man of Constant Sorrow" from "O Brother where art thou" ::
Jenny
"Danger zone" from Top Gun. You can't hear the opening notes without seeing that plane (I'm terrible with identifying them, so I won't hazard a guess and get told "that's not the kind of plane they flew in the movie!!!") And now....next time I hear "Jump" by the Pointer Sisters I will see Hugh Grant shuffling across the floor in "Love Actually" How about "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. When you hear that you see John Cusack holding up the big boombox....
cockrocker788
Danger Zone's cool, but Wham's "Playing with the Boys" is the shiznit. JK. katie_sane
When I hear 'The Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin, I think of Jack Black singing along all demonic (from the School Of Rock). Also, when I hear 'It's Raining Men' (any version) I think of the gorgeous fighting scene in Bridget Jones' Diary between Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. mmmmmm. The Marriage of Figaro: Duetto-Sul Aria or the kitchen scene from the Big Chill The Temptations Ain't Too Proud to Beg when everybody's dancing around or the opening and first few scenes of Easy Rider Born to be Wild and Pusher

MuzikTyme
I liked the Tiny Dancer scene in Almost Famous. I remember the song coming out in '71. A bunch of my friends and I were out cruising around and the song came on the radio. We all started singing to it and laughing at the parts we didn't know and added lib to. I found it unbelievable that all the occupants on the bus in Almost Famous knew every word. Big director flaw IMO.
beatleant
I found it unbelievable that all the occupants on the bus in Almost Famous knew every word. Big director flaw IMO. I agree with you there. In order for that scene not to be flawed, everyone on that bus would of either owned EJ's "Madman Across The Water" album or had the single. If not, then they must of listened to the radio 24/7 just to pick up on the lyrics. I don't think so. Yes MT, the director flawed.
MuzikTyme
I figure if there is one flaw like that then there must be others. Next time I watch the movie I'll find them. :: One I recently was looking up was "Plastic Jesus" from Cool Hand Luke, I don't care if it rains or freezes, long as I got my plastic Jesus sittin' on the dashboard of my car.... - Don't ya just love that movie? I don't just love it, it's my favourite! *sad banjo strumming I don't care if it rains and freezes As long as I got My plastic Jesus Sitting on, the dashboard of my car Comes in colours, pink and pleasant Glows in the dark 'cause it's iridescent Take it with you When you travel far Get yourself a sweet madonna Dressed in rhinestone sittin' on A pedestal Of abalone shell Goin' ninety I ain't wary 'Cause I got The virgin Mary Assuring me, that I won't go to hell. The greatest movie EVER.

I'm guessing it was played on the radio 24/7 around that time. The guys were on a bus a lot. Weren't 8-tracks the only alternative to the radio when traveling at that time? The guys probably listened to the radio all the time. And another win for CDs over vinyl. CDs can be played in a moving vehicle. All for you Musik. ::
