Aunt_Acid
I believe this is what the song's called. It just came on the radio, I picked out these lyrics: "you know you got it if it makes you feel good" and googled them. Most sources say it's Janis Joplin. Is that who sang with Meatloaf on Paradise By The Dashboard lights? It sounds just like her.
Uncle Joe
No Janis never sang with Meatloaf. mashed potatoes and gravy, yes...but not meatloaf.
_jr_
Actually, I am pretty sure the woman in question is Carla Devito. Same girl who sings "We Are Not Alone" on the Breakfast Club soundtrack.

Aunt_Acid
Ha. Reminds me of the episode of Futurama where Fry hid the seven leaf clover in the Breakfast Club Soundtrack.
bluesboy
Erma Franklin - Piece of My Heart did the original as a r&b track and try to open one of those chocolate footballs at the same time. Must be close to NFL draft day.
Uncle Joe
On the recorded album and single Ellen Foley sings the female part on Paradise By The Dashboard Light. When onstage Meatloaf is accompanied by Karla De Vito.

edna
Oh, I prefer this avatar, Ron/chris... By the way, if it was "Piece of my heart" by Janis Joplin you should have recognised it, dont´you? Janis didn´t sing with Meatloaf... if she screams a lot, it´s janis version. the original is softer...

bluesboy
I went looking for the exact release dates of Piece of My Heart and found... Erma Franklin - October 1967 Big Brother & the Holding Company (Janis) - August 1968
invisible_r
hmmm, if the dates are so close, can we really speak of "originals"? perhaps its better to check who it was written for? i.e. was it originally written for emma franklin to sing and janis covered it? bluesboy
Another cover made more famous than the original for example is: the Rolling Stones cover version of Time Is on My Side originally done by Irma Thomas
