TheLizard
I don't know if I'd give him that label, but he is pretty darn good.

scott
I saw him live a couple months back He constructs these massive loops, with pizzacato violin, bowed violin, these symphonic treats, then sprinkles in some guitars, whistling, some clapping, whatever have you and he does it with this sense of rhythm and harmony and melody and just...coolness that does not exist anywhere else in the musicBiz. Amazing. amazing Amazing. amazing! Find a better example of a musician in the pop-music realm, so besides classical musicians and some jazz musicians (very few) I really can't think of anyone who comes close to touching AB. Kevin
That was awesome . Is he English ? He has '80's sensibilities and influences in his sound ... The Church , Joy Division ( happier though ) , The Smiths, The Cure and New Order a bit - the drum/bass break in ( without the dance beat, though it could be added if he wanted it so ) ... at least from this example . I'll be buying a CD !

scott
and his latest Armchair Apocrypha is my personal fave, and I believe it's his best. I can listen thru it over and over without skipping a single track.
Kevin
Thanks , man! That's the one I'll try then ... :guitar: It's been 20 years or so since I've heard this 'sound' again as new music .
Kevin
Just listened to it - very good . He must be one of the few Yanks to go in this direction of underground '80s 'goth' pop , eh ? It was a British monopoly for ever .
scott
While I could see his voice as being 'new waveish' I'd say his music, and arrangements are a bit more complex, and 'symphonic' Then there's his gypsy stuff (Which is awesome!) that isn't quite as prevalent (unfortunately) in the new disc, that is definitely not new wave at all. Anyway, I'm happy I could get someone interested.
scott
Tho I'm betting if you're digging that sound, Fiery Crash and Plasticities are gonna be your faves. I'm a sucker for Armchairs, it's nice'n'jazzy
Kevin
Well , you did that . I would say though , that live , his voice is not quite as strong as the other bands I've mentioned ( maybe needs a better crew ) . Likely on a CD , though , they'll work that all out as it is quite sweet .
scott
His major talents lie in violin guitar and whistling and that video was when he was still writing the new album I saw him a couple of months ago and he was absolutely top-notch in the vocal department.
