Viaene
What music charts in your country? Here in Great Belgium we have our official chart: current top 5 1. This Is The Life - Amy Macdonald 2. No Stress - Laurent Wolf 3. Als ik de lichtjes in jouw ogen zie - Laura Lynn & Frans Bauer 4. Give It 2 Me - Madonna 5. How Many Waterfalls - Soulsister which pretty much sucks (however I do like 'this is the life') and there's the list from my favourite radio station (Studio Brussels): current top 5 1. Time - A Brand 2. Tryer - Motek 3. Time goes by - Air Traffic 4. Your love - Janez Detd 5. kaske na is hier - CPEX which is more rock, less pop, pretty good songs in there! I Kissed A Girl - Katy Perry 5. No Air - Jordin Sparks Ft Chris Brown Hmm... I think it's safe to say that I'm kinda out of touch
Farin
the Charts suck here as much (possibly more) than everywhere else I don't even want to know the current Top
Viaene
There's a lot of Dutch 'Schlagers' in our official chart. Many people download music illegally now, especially the younger generation. This leaves the older generation buying albums and so more 'bad' music is sold then 'good' music, if you know what I mean. Does my theory make any sense?
Farin
I think the (majority of the) people here just have a terrible taste in music alright, just for you, here's the current german single Top 5 1 Kid Rock - All Summer Long 2 Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me 3 Paul Potts Nessun Dorma 4 Ne-Yo - Closer 5 Coldplay - Viva La Vida and the album Top 5 1 Paul Potts - One Chance 2 Fady Maalouf - Blessed 3 Coldplay - Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends 4 Soundtrack - Mamma Mia! 5 Thomas Godoj - Plan A! TheLizard
I friggin' hate that "All Summer Long" song. Remember that argument about sampling = ripping off vs. sampling = art? That song is a prime example of artless thievery.

Udo
Billboard hot 100: I Kissed a Girl -- Katy Perry Forever -- Chris Brown Disturbia--Rihanna Take a Bow--Rihanna Viva La Vida--Coldplay
Udo
I was kind of hoping that this was more about "what's hot with DJs at the club" more than just charts. Charts are relatively meaningless, for the reasons Viaene mentioned.
Viaene
You are always free to open a topic about that Udo I was just wondering if the official charts all over the world were so.. irritating. I find it quite disturbing Rihanna gets places 3 and 4 on the billboard. To me that's a proof people mostly go for the artist and not for the songs.. Levis
To me it's proof that people go for whatever's looks good and is on regular rotation

That song is a prime example of artless thievery. Yes, it is. And he even took it to a new level. He ripped off TWO different artists at the same time. Does that mean he's twice as talentless as the average rap artist?
Farin
he was a cell phone salesman for T-Mobile, and they have a commercial with his singing running up and down everywhere, everytime and now he's opening the new football season

That song is a prime example of artless thievery. I heard it for the first time yesterday morning, the only good sounding parts are the sampled parts here's the Hotlist; most played tracks this week on the radiostation I listen too: 1. dizzee rascal & calvin harris – dance wiv me 2. mgmt – electric feel 3. arsenal – estupendo 4. the verve – love is noise 5. kanye west & chris martin - homecoming
