Lea
Shawna's list was another one of those "just can't go wrong lists". The songs were all good so the top ten of course would be as well. So far all the lists we've done have been great and I think everyone has great taste in music
edna
wow, I would get every song of this list in my iPod... Great choices, Shawna... as Lea said, another one of those "just can't go wrong lists"

Tenacious_Peaches
The Monkees and Wham! Can't go wrong with that, yo.
Shawna
Indeed, all in the same list! "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is the song I danced to with my dad at my wedding. I'm glad it's #1 because it has really special sentimental significance in that regard. Woot! Woot! The only quibble I have is... well, you all know what it is. Shawna
Every song on my list has particular meaning for me with timelines and experiences. So here's why these were on the list. 1. Bridge Over Troubled Water ~ Simon and Garfunkel (explained above) 2. I'm A Believer ~ Monkees ~ My favorite Monkees song... this came out when I was about 7 and we would listen to our little transistor radios for hours just to hear it, along with "Sugar Sugar." 3. Night Moves ~ Bob Seger ~ reminds me of 11th grade... "we were just young and restless and bored, livin' by the sword." 4. Gimme Three Steps ~ Lynyrd Skynyrd ~ High school again... a must at all keggers. 5. Heard It In A Love Song ~ Marshall Tucker ~ guess what - high school again! This song was huge at parties, another kegger must. 6. Careless Whisper ~ Wham! ~ just after high school... I wanted to have George Michael's baby. 7. You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet ~ BTO ~ junior high... this song was somehow clandestinely nasty. That's why I loved it. 8. Midnight Confessions ~ Grass Roots ~ I must have been about 10 and bought one of those "Sessions" multiple-disc "super hits" sets and played this song until the record player broke. 9. Total Eclipse Of The Heart ~ Bonnie Tyler ~ Early 20s... very powerful feelings this one evoked. Then I discovered Jim Steinman wrote it, the same guy who wrote all the songs on Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell," which was one of my favorites. 10. Long, Long Time ~ Linda Ronstadt ~ 10th - 11th grade love and heartbreak. That jerk. Thanks for taking the time to vote for my list!!!

skybluesky
Shawna, I'm glad you appreciate the over the top fantasticality of Total Eclipse of the Heart as much as I do, and I am thrilled Wham made your Ten. I'm also glad Linda has a place. She's the only '70s lady I didn't have on my list (out of Linda, Carly, Joni, and Carole)
OLD 55
Good Ten, Shawna. I've voted for "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" (one of the best songs of the 80s) every time it's been nominated, but it's never made a regular Top Ten. Maybe it's time for someone to renominate it now that there are a few others here who appreciate it.
skybluesky
I nominated It's a Heartache once and it came really close, at least somewhere between 11 and 15.
Shawna
I nominated it once, 55. Maybe if someone else did it this time, it would get more votes.
