skybluesky
I'm not talking "oh my god, life is so dire, I must slit my wrists," but I don't want "OOOH! Puppies and rainbows and cookies!" happy songs either, just sort of in between, like Either Way by Wilco, the more dour Travis like "Writing to Reach You." So give me your best mopey songs. Levis
My favourite band that starts with 'V' is incredibly easy to mope to.
skybluesky
Vanilla Ice? I could see how that could work...

The Seeker
Depending on what your reason to mope is, I'd suggest Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs.

invisible_r
I'm a bit confused about this definition, as I would say that radiohead and joy division are more in the "I wanna kill myself" category.
daslied
Probably, but I listen to both and don't want to kill myself.

Carl
For a fresh, new song to mope to, check out Death Cab For Cutie's Your New Twin Sized Bed. It's about a guy who gets rid of his queen bed becuase he knows he will never need it.
invisible_r
well, I don't want to kill myself either, but radiohead is my choice of soundtrack for the very miserable days!

Red Fish
Tom Waits - Bad Liver And A Broken Heart Tom Waits - Flowers Grave I personally find Tom Traubert's Blues or I Wish I Was in New Orleans a bit more mope-tastic than those two. King Creosote - And The Racket They Made Just about anything by Nick Drake Simon & Garfunkel - April Come She Will Have fun.

invisible_r
good choice Invisible_r! http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=5539 that's pretty depressing, although I normally go for "fake plastic trees" if I am very miserable! It's interesting that you mention the SMiths, the lyrics are quite mopey but the music is usually uplifting, same with Grandaddy, so the result can be varried depending on whether you are paying attention to the lyrics or music.
