MarcM Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 $2.93 for regular. $2.93? Is that 83 octane.... $3.65 for regular here.
Shawna Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 $3.25 yesterday. Then I drove down the street this morning and saw it for $3.19. No fair - I live in da hood, it should be cheaper here!
MindCrime Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 $3.4+ a gallon, cost over $50 to fill a truck at Circle K. A private gas stop along side the tourists' freeway in Cali, east of Los Angeles is up to $5.39 a gallon. Highway Murder
Mars88 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Gas just went up here to $1.319 per liter. I think it works out to around $5/gallon in the States. I wonder if this will change travel plans for people this summer. I still see lots of SUV's and trucks around, so the high gas prices obviously aren't affecting purchasing patterns...
katie_sane Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 CRAP! Okay, so the Aussie dollar is almost even with the US dollar...the current exchange rate is like 94 Au cents to the American dollar. Soo, last I paid for petrol, regular unleaded [even though my new car says it needs premium, I pretend I don't see that sticker...] was $1.55 per litre. Have no idea how many gallons are in a litre or vice versa. So are you Americans paying a hell of a lot more, or is that about even?
Farin Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 (edited) 1 gallon = 3.785 litres so you would pay about $5.88 per gallon dunno if "regular unleaded" is the same as "87" though... Edited May 7, 2008 by Guest Because Martin said 3,785 litres...silly boy.
Uncle Joe Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I believe 87 is the octane. I recently paid $3.44/gallon in New Jersey.
Jenny Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I need gas, and I think I'll be paying $3.43 or so this afternoon. I bet it'll be up to $4 by Memorial Day
MarcM Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 yES, 87 IS THE OCTANE RATING FOR REGULAR UNLEADED HERE IN cALIFORNIA. mID IS 89 AND PREMIUM IS 91.
Ombre Vivante Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 4 freakin' dollars. This play-money might as well be pesos.
Shawna Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 This is making me feel a bit better about paying $3.45 for regular today. I feel like I'm getting away pretty cheaply...
edna Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 I have to buy a new battery. That´s worse than paying for gas... :beady:
MuzikTyme Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 I pity those that went diesel. Me? 3.99 for mid-grade (89 octane).
edna Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 I pity those that went diesel. I´m diesel. :beady: Even the batteries for diesel are more expensive...
MuzikTyme Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 Tell me about it! The high price of diesel affects everyone, mainly the consumer. All commercial grocery trucks run on diesel hence the higher price of food collating w/the ridiculous increase of gas; diesel or regular. It's enough to drive an insane man sane.
invisible_r Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I arrived in AThens last night ready to go out drinking and dancing. Apparently all my friends had run out of petrol because of a strike which started because of the high prices. On monday there is also a taxi driver strike, again brought on by the high prices of petrol. Argh.....
edna Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I hope it´s warm and sunny, at least... so you can go to the beach.

We had to sometimes wait in lines 2 hours long to get gas, and they doled it out via your license plate number - if the last digit was odd or even. Years later we discovered it was a gas station conspiracy thing where there was never a shortage, but they were able to drive the gas prices up by saying there was.
