musicrookie
I am doing an anthology project and I need to come up with a song that is related to the book Robinson Crusoe. I need to be able to explain why the lyrics or the composition of the song relates to the book. In case you haven't read the book its about a man who is shipwrecked and is stranded alone on an island for 28 years before he is rescued. He has to suvive off of nature alone. Sort of like castaway. If anyone has any ideas please share them with me. Thanks a lot. Edited December 17, 2007 by Guest title relates to the query

blind-fitter
It's a bit too obvious, isn't it? Also- and I hate to be picky about it- is "Message In A Bottle" actually about being cast away on a desert island, a la Robinson Crusoe (and all the survivalist techniques that would have entailed)? Or is the lyric a metaphor for the experience of loneliness and rejection, culminating in a sudden realisation that in the real world, many are those who feel lonely and unloved? Just a thought. Levis
I always see it as a metaphor but I couldn't really think of anything else explicitly about being a castaway.
Shawna
here's another song, which is a metaphor... but my sister likes it because she thinks it's quite the cute song about being in a leaky boat. Leaky Little Boat RCPM I awake from a long, deep sleep In a leaky little boat on a wide blue sea I spy no island, rock or shore And the sea, she’s a-comin’ to me through a hole in the floor And the tide come in and the tide go out And the waves they come toss my little boat about And the sky turn black and the sky turn blue I got no pail, no sail, no anchor, too Just a leaky little boat And as I wake I look around I have no notion where I’m bound So many different colored boats I see Are all leaky, lonely and driftin’ Just like me And the tide come in and the tide go out… And the waves they come toss my little boat about And the sky turn black, and the sky turn blue Got no pail, no sail, no anchor too Just a leaky little boat... I spy no island rock or shore And the sea keeps a-comin’ to me through a hole in the floor Of my leaky little boat Alone, adrift, together are we Slowly sinkin’ in a deep blue sea But we smile and we wave And we say, "I'm afraid…and I love you…and here we go…" Leaky Little Boat ~ RCPM
