  1. Sounds like the cauldron calling the frying pan 'black.' :sleepy:
  2. The horror! 30 minutes of "the pretty Beatle" on HSN might sink the channel into cancellation. (Just kidding, Beatles fans. But it sounds like Sir Paul has fallen so far off the grid that he's holding an "alimony party" sale.)
  3. Well, Don Ho could sing, in a boozy kind of way, had a first class band backing him up, and introduced many first time musicians and singers over the years. Can Jon Lovitz sing? No? Oh well, there's always Rap. ("The middle aged beastie boys")
  4. Will these bands do a "Globally Over Heated" theme complete with candles, torches, a 'Survivor'-like roaring fire and NO live electric lines for that truly organic sound? :sleepy:
  5. Late last year, L.A. band "Buddhist Priest" rolled through town covering Judas Priest tomes.
  6. A "Fountains of Wayne" double, aka the "Out of State Plates" special. (Not quite as interesting as MCC's "Party Doll.")
  7. "Shrek The Third" 7/10. Like a TV series, this story has slipped into low/reverse gear as domesticity threatens the green swamp couple. The "Arthur Pendragon" character sounded quite a bit like Shrek the first, but pulled it off like any good career counselor. I'm not looking forward to "Shrek IV." :sleepy:
  8. The way Ms. Lohan is going, she'll be singing "The Folsom Prison Blues" before too long.
  9. Hook this one up with Scientology Air, er, John Travolta! This way she gets a special seat and an interesting belief system that will keep those pesky psychs at bay. :sleepy:
  10. Sounds like LL definitely has an alcohol problem that wasn't fixed by rehab. Issue that destroyer of expensive automobiles a bus pass pronto!
  11. Unfortunately, nothing and no one is safe from the bottom line. (After all, Janis Joplin's bitingly satirical song, "Mercedes Benz" was used to sell Daimler's rides not too long ago.)
  12. "Serenity" 8/10 I was looking for Don Ho's "rap" over "Hawai'i Aloha," which had been featured on 5/5, when his ashes were scattered off Waikiki beach. I found his "A Night in Hawaii with Don Ho," but the find of the night was "Serenity." A "tie up loose strands and give 'em a mighty yank" would sum up this continuation of the late TV show, "Firefly." Although one could see this movie without knowing anything about the series, it's rip-roaring action, peril, and humor running as fast as you can away from the zombie-like Reavers. For non-Browncoats, get the "Firefly" set, then fly "like a leaf in the wind."
  13. "Mom" by Lena Machado comes to mind. You can find a modern interpretation of it on Raiatea Helm's 2003 "Far Away Heaven" CD release.
  14. Too bad underwater communications tech wasn't up to the task back then. Chasing sharks and dirty jobs on the Discovery channel, novice SCUBA divers can put out enough noise to scare the predators away!
  15. Jerry Lee "The Killer" Lewis sums this subject up on his latest "Last Man Standing" CD duet with George Jones: "Don't Be Ashamed of Your Age." :guitar: (And to think that I thought that the "Maggie O'Connell" character on "Northern Exposure" was going off the deep end in the "Northwest Passages" episode when she was about to hit the big three-zero way back in 1992.)
  16. Jay Leno declared that he's through shaking hands after hearing of the 1-sheet-of-TP suggestion.
  17. Sounds like Le Petit Prince needs a dose of reality. Sign him up with Guns & Roses as a replacement Bass player.
  18. I'm not a Pink Floyd fan so I'm...Comfortably Numb.
  19. Whew! Honolulu is tied for 27th. Don't really want more folk raising property tax rates and adding to the already outrageous automobile traffic problems.
  20. Better a Rehab survivor than a burnt out "celebrity" corpse. (I'll bet that River Phoenix would have done things a tad different if he had it to do all over again.)
  21. "Black Rain." I suspect they may not sell in Japan very well...that kind of radioactive-fallout-laced precipitation followed the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings. But then, the young and hip who weren't taught anything about World War II/The Pacific War will shell out for Ozzy.
  22. "Danny Boy" aka "Londonderry Air" sounded fairly bright, as a song about Spring. (Especially sung by Danny Thomas back in the day.) Then I looked it up and found that it was a father's lament for a son killed in World War I. Then there's "Every Breath You Take," but I wasn't a Police fan...
  23. Don Ho. Maitais. Dean Martin-like stage persona. Kissed kids, ladies, and the occasional U.S. Marine. The favorite entertainer of visitors, coeds, and transients. I never caught his show, so his appeal escaped me. Aloha, Don, I wonder if Kui Lee will fight you for the heavenly microphone at Yahweh's Palace?
  24. I did a Google! search for the Kevin Costner Band. Looking around for a music sample, I read that KC had done a duet with Amy Grant for "The Postman" soundtrack. I dropped by Amazon and clicked on "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice" and...it's such a laid back tune that I can't assess his vocal ability. (He's MUCH better than William Shatner, but not up to the "Lt. Dan Band's" Gary Sinise.) I hope he's better than Rod "McKuen" Stewart!
  25. Favorite artist+song? Difficult to pick just one but that would be: "Speedball Tucker" performed by Jim Croce. (A headphone salute to a real working class hero!)
