There isn't much of a history... Started off with the Beastie Boys & ended with Eminem with a few jokes in between (I.G. Vanilla Ice, K-Fed, etc.)

Rick Rubin is the genious behind the style & genre.

Her album "Public Warning" is well impressive. I've listened to it three times this week, and I fear I'm going to have to buy it.
