Looking for artist and title for a current song, sounds like a country artist maybe, lyrics include "Here I am on the road again, here I am up on the stage...." My radio plays it all the time but never says what it is. Thanks anyone. Liz

Liz,I believe that is Turn The Page. Originally by Bob Seger (I guess he could sound country?), then covered by Metallica. Hang on a minute, someone is going to come along with the particulars...

Here's your lyrics

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a long and lonesome highway east of Omaha

You can listen to the engines moaning out as one note song

You think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do

When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do

And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

Here I am - on the road again

There I am - up on the stage

Here I go - playing star again

There I go - turn the page

So you walk into this restaurant strung out from the road

And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shaking off the cold

You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode

Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can

All the same old cliches, "Is it woman? Is it man?"

And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand

Make your stand

Here I am - on the road again

There I am - up on the stage

Here I go - playing star again

There I go - turn the page

Oo-ooh, out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away

Every ounce of energy you try to give away

As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play, yeah

Later in the evening, you lie awake in bed

With the echoes of the amplifiers ringing in your head

You smoke the day's last cigarette, remembering what she said

What she said

He-ey

Yeah

And here I am - on the road again

There I am - up on a stage

Here I go - playing star again

There I go - turn the page

There I go - turn that page

There I go, yeah, yeah

There I go, yeah, yeah

There I go, yeah

There I go, yeah

There I go, oo-oo-ooh

There I go

And I'm gone

Liz, here's what Wikepedia has to say:

"Turn the Page" is a song written and recorded by Bob Seger.

The song was originally released by Seger in 1973 on his Back in '72 album. Seger's version never made the charts, but an evocative live performance on his 1976 Live Bullet album became a mainstay of album-oriented rock radio stations, and still gets significant airplay to this day on classic rock stations."

I don't know where your station has been for the past 30 odd years, unless they've just recycled their playlist. It is overplayed, but is still a great song.

Usually, as a rule of nature, broadcasting stations will update or alter their regulatory track list, in effort to produce better ratings with in-field listeners. Part of the reason that causes stations to change their entire lineup, including genre of music played. Please revert to "Airheads" for an example of this.
