edna
And you want the spanish lyrics? Do you know who sang it in spanish?
Earth-Angel
I don't know about a Spanish version, I know it is a traditional Russian folk/gypsey song though. Click me - here's a very informative link about this song which you might find interesting, but it does not give the Spanish lyrics. And some Songfacts. Versions of the song were also recorded in Spanish, French, Italian and German by Hopkin and McCartney I'll keep having a look though!
daslied
I believe, actually, that James Taylor was the first Apple signing. Mary Hopkin and Badfinger were right in there, though, so I'm not 100% sure about JT. Anyhoo...

James Taylor was a friend of Peter Asher (brother of former McCartney´s girlfriend, Jane Asher, and member of Peter&Gordon, pop duo who sang Lennon-McCartney´s songs). Taylor, Hopkins and Badfinger signed in 1968. McCartney never denied "Those were the days" was a Russian song, though he never mentionned it neither if he wasn´t asked... I don´t know about the Spanish version. In case I find some info I´ll post it, but I guess Earth-Angel did a good job already as usual...
