jman14141414
Love the song, but was always puzzled by this: "I shouted out, who killed the Kennedys? When after all it was you and me" Anyone have an idea what it's supposed to mean?
Carl
Be sure to read the Songfacts on this one - it's a great history lesson. From what I remember, they added that line at the last minute to get in a timely mention of the Robert Kennedy assassination.
jman14141414
Thanks Carl, forgot to read the songfacts about it first... Still don't see why Jagger would think it's "the people" who killed him?
edna
I remember we discussed about this somewhere... I can´t find the thread... I guess he means the Devil looks like a gentleman and he´s a normal person, just as everybody, so "it was you and me"... was it like that?
windy1
My interpretation is that he means our society, by "we". Carl is right. They had to go back into the studio, and quickly redo the song to say the Kennedy's instead of just Kennedy. The album was do to be released within days of them rerecording the song. Kevin
Has anyone seen a very rare documentary about the Stones which follows the making of this song in the studio ? It's excellent and it's interesting to see how many different tempos and versions could have been made .... I just read that it is called " One Plus One " by Jean-Luc Gottard " Tell ME sweetie, can you guess my name ?....."
edna
It´s also called "Sympathy for the devil", I believe... I didn´t see it but I think I´ll get it as soon as I have some extra money... I had to choose among other DVDs this Christmas... It´s a very old film and seems it´s very interesting, I ever remeber the reviews when it was released.
