James31524 Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I'm not sure, so I checked the listings first, then searched the forums to see if it had been asked before. In the song 'Walk like an Egyptian" there appear to at least a few veiled drug references. For example: Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh) They snap their teeth on your cigarette That would seem to be a reference to a 'roach clip'. The reference to a hookah in the following line would seem to confirm this. Does anybody know if my guesses have any merit, or am I completely off here?
Earth-Angel Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I can't anything official right now, but I would say it was too obscure. Perhaps the lyricist was having a laugh, but I can't find anything that refers to this line of the song. I do know, however, that it had been banned from airplay during the time of the Gulf crisis.
edna Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 E-A, I remember something about that song being banned during the war... I guess it might be because the Egyptians are Arabs too... I don´t see a clear refernce to drugs neither... mostly a joke, or maybe a laugh about Lacoste´s crocodile?
RonJonSurfer Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Being on drugs might have made the song more tolerable.
