Brad_M Posted April 19, 2015 Report Share Posted April 19, 2015 The 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place tonight at Cleveland’s Public Hall. Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr topped the list of this year’s inductees, which also included Lou Reed, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Green Day, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Bill Withers and The “5” Royales.As is tradition, a variety of big-name stars were on hand to induct the honorees. Starr was welcomed by his Beatles band mate Paul McCartney, the late Reed was inducted by Patti Smith, Jett and her group were ushered in by pop superstar Miley Cyrus, Vaughan and Double Trouble were honored by John Mayer, Green Day was saluted by Fall Out Boy, the Butterfield Blues Band were inducted by J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf, Withers was welcomed by Stevie Wonder and The “5” Royales were celebrated by Booker T. & the MGs guitarist Steve Cropper.A variety of well-known artists also took to the stage to perform in honor of the newly minted inductees. The evening’s entertainment lineup included The Eagles‘ Joe Walsh, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Beck, fun.‘s Nate Ruess, Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O, Vaughan’s brother Jimmie, contemporary bluesman Gary Clark Jr., country star Zac Brown and pop/R&B singer John Legend.All of the aforementioned inductees were honored in the “Performers” category except for Starr, who was acknowledged in conjunction with receiving the Award for Musical Excellence, and The “5” Royales, who were recognized as an “Early Influence.”The 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was taped for a television special that’s scheduled to premiere May 30 on HBO. The end of the ceremony looked a lot like one of his All Starr Bands (maybe he'll invite Miley Cyrus on his next tour) .Yeah, we need better smilies - working on it.
