blind-fitter
...where the fellas chew tabaccy and the women wicky-wacky-woo. Seems to have been a "standard" in the 20s and 30s, performed by numerous jazz artists of repute. Which, if any, is the definitive version, if I should be trying to procure one? Farin
Penned in 1928 by the American musical giant Harry Warren and the lyricist Mort Dixon, "Nagasaki" was usually performed in an up-tempo manner. Introduced by the Friars' Society Orchestra of Paul Mares, the song was recorded under a variety of arrangements by the likes of Fletcher Henderson, Cab Calloway, the Mills Brothers, Fats Waller, the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, Red Norvo, and Benny Goodman. (source) I don't know if that's the "definite" version you're looking for, though
skybluesky
...and the women wicky-wacky-woo. First of all, doing that sounds painful. Second, Marc would be the person to ask, what with the jazz musician F-i-L.
Lucky
Bluesy could tell you as well. That's his area.
bluesboy
Wiki says the Benny Goodman version is definitive, though I'd like to hear the Fats Waller and Cab Calloway versions too. Only a couple of obscure renditions at youtube. This looks like a fun song to make a youtube for.
Shawna
blast from the past... I remember my dad used to wander around the house singing that chorus to himself.
