skybluesky
Run-DMC, Metallica lead list of 2009 Rock Hall NEW YORK (AP) -- Run-DMC once hailed themselves as the Kings of Rock, so it's fitting that the pioneering rappers have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Run-DMC joins the heavy metal band Metallica, guitarist Jeff Beck, soul singer Bobby Womack and doo-wop group Little Anthony and the Imperials as this year's inductee class. Rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson gets a nod for the early influence category, and the sidemen inductees are session musician Spooner Oldham and two of Elvis Presley's musicians — drummer D.J. Fontana and bassist Bill Black. The induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland — where the Rock Hall is based — on April 4.
MindCrime
Not surprised, but still cool to see.
TheLizard
Well you know, they are the kings of rock, there is none higher.
skybluesky
I'm glad to see Wanda Jackson repping the sisters, but I really want to see Graham Parsons inducted, as well as Carly Simon and Carole King as a solo artist (She's in there already with ex-husband Gerry Goffin), and ABBA
Viaene
Run DMC & Metallica I consider ABBA as pure pop, for me they don't belong in a R'n R list. Edited January 15, 2009 by Guest

Carl
I campaigned for War, but they'll have to hang out with Neil Diamond in the no love from the Rock Hall club. I'm not sure how you justify Little Anthony over the pioneers of West Coast Funk.

MindCrime
I'm surprised Carole King isn't in the hall of fame, "Tapestry" was the best selling album of all time during the 1970s.
Mike
I don't know If I would characterize Carole King as rock n roll, she's fabulous, but not rock. Well, maybe soft rock. How come Judas Priest isn't in there? I tell ya, I will have no respect for the RRHoF until AC/DC, and Judas Priest are inducted, and even then I may not respect it. Jeff Beck was a step in the right direction though.
