Lea Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Yes, a very decisive #1 Tim. And a good Top Ten - something for (almost) everyone - even a song from the 'dreaded' 80s. I think I have several 80's songs in my PTT and some great music did come out in the 80's like: Call Me, Blondie Another Brick In The Wall, Pink Floyd Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Queen Against The Wind, Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band Then of course songs like these had to ruin at all and give the 80's a bad name Do That To Me One More Time, Captain and Tennille Please Don't Go, K.C. and The Sunshine Band Him, Rupert Holmes She's Out Of My Life, Michael Jackson The poor 80's took a terrible blow with stuff like that playin' on the airwaves. That Jackson tune always made feel nauseated
_Laurie_ Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 LOL..Lea..me and hubby were talkin' about the 80's the other day...some song came on the radio and he said "what year was this song, sounds like an 80's tune"...I said I don't know, the 80's were all a blur to me....He said "Um dear, we got married in '81.... ( I meant as in the music )
Lea Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Good one Laurie Funny how men can seem to make any conversation about them
edna Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 ...and talk about New Romantics... or Spandau Ballet
OLD 55 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Lea I'm rapt in most of the 80s Pop Songs - except some wussy boy bands (although I like Culture Club) and 'House Music'. I can never get 80s Pop Songs into the Ten. Every Breath You Take just snuck in, and it's one of the best. Even the Rappers agree.
Lea Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I love Every Breath You Take but then I really like The Police. Culture Club sorry but yuck but Boy did have a way with his Make-up
OLD 55 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I should have said some Culture Club songs. I think Karma Chameleon is a Classic. Anyway, we might close this Ten and go on to #118
Lea Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 That song is not to bad and I think one other was ok. I had some fun in the eighties those were my twenties days and I took advantage of every second
OLD 55 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Most of our Kids were a bit older then, so I used to sit around and watch the Australian Video Top 50 (Rage) with them on Saturday mornings when I could. I probably know more 80s Pop songs than 70s ! Just recapping... Top Ten #117 for the week ending 1st June 2008 1. Black - Pearl Jam (1991) 2. Up Around The Bend - Creedence Clearwater Revival (1970) 3. Just The Way You Are - Billy Joel (1977) 4. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - The Beatles (1967) 5. Walk Away Renee - The Left Banke (1966) 6. Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton (1977) 7. We're Going To Be Friends - The White Stripes (2001) 8. Biggest Part Of Me - Ambrosia (1980) 9.
