  1. 10/10 if you like the cream... Smoked salmon, flaked and mixed with shredded ginger & spring onion, again on good granary bread... Regards
  2. 8/10 - a little fatty and it can be offputting when it catches your eye.... Homemade apple jelly on granary bread toast with real butter, washed down with tea and orange juice. Regards
  3. I don't have a point, thats my point! Being a Leeds fan of lapsed status, the shenannigans of today do interest me though.... Regards
  4. Would Alan Smith have been welcome if he hadn't gone to the Munics? - or was it his style of exit rather than his destination? Do they still throw bricks at the away fans from that embankment on the way out? Does the Service Crew still meet in the 'Speakeasy', and does it still have that boxing ring? Do Leeds still have expensive fishtanks? Lads, we need to know..... Regards
  5. EA, if you stole David Gray's voice, would the waggly head come as part of the package? You'd never keep a hat on again! Gisela, I would chose his dad's voice. If I wanted a woman's voice it would be either Alf or Dusty Springfield, I reckon. I too could get away with either of these, as Alf's is deeper than mine and Dusty had bigger b*llocks (alledgedly)... Regards
  6. Just to resurrect an old thread, a friend of mine in Todmorden is also a friend of Lisa Stansfield. He used to play bass in clubs and thats how they met. Many years ago he had a party and Lisa (as she is known to her friends) turned up for an hour or so. I was waiting for a bus that never came, so I didn't get to meet her either! Swears like a fish-wife apparently... Regards
  7. We still thing in Fahrenheit over here, just as we think in feet & inches - at least us older ones do..... Its snowing outside here now as well. Regards
  8. Jake Burns says it so much better than me: I could be a soldier Go out there and fight to save this land Be a people's soldier Paramilitary gun in hand I won't be a soldier I won't take no orders from no-one Stuff their ******* armies Killing isn't my idea of fun (Chorus) They wanna waste my life They wanna waste my time They wanna waste my life And they've stolen it away I could be a hero Live and die for their 'important' cause A united nation Or an independent state with laws And rules and regulations That merely cause disturbances and wars That is what I've got now All thanks to the freedom-seeking hordes (Chorus) I'm not gonna be taken in They said if I don't join I just can't win I've heard that story many times before And every time I threw it out the door Still they come up to me With a different name but same old face I can see the connection With another time and a different place They ain't blonde-haired or blue-eyed But they think that they're the master race They're nothing but blind fascists Brought up to hate and given lives to waste (Chorus: repeat) Respec Gisela! Regards
  9. Half the point must be that a 'true punk' wouldn't bother with the debate at all IMO, as all 'true punks' either died of glue years ago or sell insurance nowadays. I am 39, and was too young for the beginnings of punk in the UK. My older sister was one of the originals though, and I don'n recollect her agonising over the valididty of either band before playing Never Mind The Bollocks and The Clash to death.... Oh, sorry, some of the 'true punks' do live on. They listen to Dub, smoke too much dope and can't hold down a job.... Regards
  10. I'd raise a glass, but that is probably in poor taste! One of the greatest footballers ever, old George... Regards
  11. S2V, just to explain, Ian Dury contracted polio as a child, and had a withered arm as a result. The song was his reaction to people's reaction to him.... Regards

  13. I agree SoulGirl, and do not think for one minute that you speak out of prejudice. Indeed, I am grateful for the information you give to me as I have only a very 'English' perspective. This is bourne out of living as a child on an army camp with half the regiment 'on tour' at a time. Plus, my father used to work at a Cat.1 prison (I won't name which one) that housed amongst others convicted IRA terrorists. He had to use a stick-mirror every day for years.... We live on different sides of the story for sure, and I am glad things are getting better, for all our sakes. x Iain
  14. The average Brit will see it differently of course, as one sees history from an individual perspective. On the mainland we have had painful reminders of the IRA's agenda through bombing, shooting and all manner of dubious activities described as 'fund-raising'. One has to remember that for centuries England has been a protestant country, and Ireland a pawn in Papist attempts to subjugate the English. Furthermore in two World Wars many Irish gave assistance to Germany as a way of having a go at the English. The history of Ireland has been one of English occupation and exploitation for sure, the majority of this for political (read 'religious') reasons. Today we who would gladly let Irish people control their own Government, whichever way the Irish decided to go, are as ashamed of our country's past as it is possible to be when little Irish history is taught and very few people in England have any idea of how the modern Ireland arose. The trouble is, 20th Century Irish social history is dominated by armed struggle in both camps, and the organisations originally devised as political are so entrenched that a gangster culture exists in urban areas nowadays. 15. I could have sworn the woman from Four Non Blondes was a bloke when I first heard them too. Regards
  16. Batman, I like that. It is very much in the style of The Gulag Archipeligo... Oh, how as a sperm did you manage to hold the pen, and didn't your old man find it a tad uncomfortable? Regards
  17. Edna, it doesn't change a thing! Regards
  18. Don't worry Amy, Dani is perfectly safe with this pooch.... he doesn't bite, plus he can't get out of the computer no matter how hard he runs.... Regards
  19. The last time mud splattered my hose in the woods, I was nearly caught by the fuzz! Regards
  20. Given the choice of wives, I'd have thought Camilla is the more likely..... Regards
  21. Conservative MP of course! They have a long tradition of cross-dressing, coming from public school backgrounds. Bitty? Bitty? Regards
