  1. see post in duscussion, I'm too lazy to retype it.
  2. Back when....I was actually young. You were supposed to have a dr pepper at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. peanuts in the bottle was a fad (before my time)that actually started with coke. they would drop peanuts in the bottle and drink then eat the peanuts. That I have no answer for. ::
  3. I actually liked Jewel when she first came out. I like the song touch myself. there are lots of pop songs that I like, but I would never buy the album. Do we consider Melissa Etheridge pop? Cause I like her. I have a couple of her albums.
  4. Download a couple songs. You'll see what I mean. Definately Dixie Chicken. And More. They are one of those bands that take off in certain regions, but not necessarily big nationally. They are very big here. And in the south. I don't know how to categorize them. This should have been a whole 'nother thread. back to the blues. Albert King is wonderful to put makeup on to for work. Stagger Lee.
  5. It's sad. I saw him at Mississippi Nights(a club on the landing, the mississippi of course) He has a bad drinking problem. He was very nice outside at the bus though. He's pretty much just a studio musician in nashville anymore. I think he has real talent though. I like Bayou Soul. How about Little Feat? They don't get discussed, not really blues or country rock, more like Russell. I'm really into them also. If you'll be my dixie chicken I'll be you tennessee lamb. And we can live together down in dixieland.
  6. I just heard this today. Skynard has been overlooked for 6 nominated for 6 years in a row, and hasn't got in yet. What is that? There are people in there that I would put Skynard miles above. It just doesn't make sense. I heard it was a southern thing a "dumb hicks" thing, but the Allman brothers are in. They are like the Susan Lucci's of music, 10 times over.
  7. Oh I don't think so. I'm not big into his collaborations. Back to the island, Out in the woods, Tightrope, Hummingbird...where do you put them? Not rock.
  8. Bluesy a question for you... what genre would you put Leon Russell into? Blues, Rock, easy Listening kidding there. I love Leon.
  9. Same thing Sammy said. Edwards Jones Dome. That's where I saw Bridges To Babylon. Tickets will come... hell or high water!
  10. Albert Kings got a version too. I was just listening to it tonight. Never had a clue. It just sounds good. ::
  11. Oh yes, me too! I like to hear the different takes they have. Or similar. I'm into harmonica bigtime, that really gets me down deep. You like Jimmy Reed bluesy? It's old, different, but man can that man play, guitar and harmonica. You don't hear him mentioned much, he's not much of a rocker, more smooth.
  12. There you go... you got it. Stevie plays the blues well. He wasn't strictly a blues artist in the real sense of the word. You need to go deeper for true blues. My opinion only.
  13. You know I've been thinking something for quite some time. Blues although older, seems like a natural progression from rock. I still love rock, but comparison wise it's like my mom listening to Frank Sinatra. Blues now seems like grownup music. Just a thought.
  14. Burning Of The Midnight Lamp ~ Jimi Hendrix Angel ~ Jimi Those are my fist thoughts upon rolling out of bed. I'm addicted! My coffee and computer. Used to be coffee and a cigarette! My husband thinks this may be worse.Sorry, carry on. ::
  15. jr if bluesy has turned you onto the blues good for him!! Granted Stevie is semi-blues(but modern)but there is so much more out there. Listen to Jimmy Reed. That's old. But good. And bluesy you are right, Rhino does put out some great stuff. I've got Harmonica Classics, Singin the Blues, and several others. Listen to some classic Janis. Not the rock stuff. Summertime, Little Girl Blue, Turtle Blues. You'd never believe how that white girl sings the blues. Pick up some Etta James. The Queen of blues. I have to echo Ron above, Buddy Guy is a master. Howlin Wolf(though I think he's dead, so many are), Taj Mahal, Bo Diddley. I'm glad you've discovered what I've known for sometime. Some of this music is the roots of the classic stuff we discuss all the time!!! ::
  16. I loved the show. I think it came out when I was 10 or 12. Their music wasn't bad, mike, peter, and mick all had musical backgrounds. Here's my thought on it: I really think they were first with music videos. Half the show was a music video illustrating whatever song they were singing. It didn't necessarily correlate to the song itself, just silly stuff. even though they weren't called videos that's what they essentially were. This was a very innovative show for it's time and I think that gets overlooked sometimes. The Monkees Rocked for thier time, and were ahead of thier time. ps: Even though Mike's mom made a fortune with the white out, I believe he still produces music. Or did until recently anyway. They don't get the credit they deserve. they brought rock music into peoples homes and parents could see that it wasn't all "sex, drugs and rocknroll" Just my take on it.
  17. I'm sorry chris. I was just being "cute". of course you can go. You mught learn something. Then we can have a real discussion and you will see my point of view. Since we can't go to a Doors-Morrison concert! You have to go with an open mind though. I guarantee you'll get it(my opinion!) See you there! And unc/ like a chines restaurant, sweet and sour is the best! jr btter come up with some more tickets. wouldn't it be cool if they played in some central location and we could all go? Love you chris, unc and edna!

    New Server

I've been getting a lot of internal server errors, website not responding etc. but I just close out and try again and it usually works. Something disconcerting happened. Twice when I have logged on to my homepage I have come up with Muziks. If I click on anything(not trying to be nosy, just trying to figure it out) it takes me to my homepage. What is that about? And no one lse both times it was muziks page.
  19. No I just got DSl. I regitered without instead of just changing my email. I think I have it straight now. we'll see here. Who calls me windy1 anyway? at least i'm not dave/roger/ ron/chris!! There it worked back to my old self again! Thanks Dannyboy for caring! ::
  20. There won't be any "sitting next to me" You can dance next to me, cause that's what I will be doing. At the Bridges to Babylon concert that was all I did.
  21. Now those are my boys too! The Charlie Daniels band! . Back in the 70 those boys rocked! Now they really use their talent and are more serious about their music. Course they are old like me! Toby Keith is good, but in danger of becoming too commercial. Give me Hank Williams Sr, Parcy Cline, etc. Ilke a lot of the newer people Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, but they don't hold the same quality as the classic country. I guess that's what you'd call it. We need a cowboy smily!
  22. Charlie's a tough buzzard though. He'd have to be to get through all those years with the boys as relativally unscathed as he did. He's got a rough time now, maybe that's what got the boys going. Once more for the Gipper and all that. I do love that Charlie. jr if you've got 6 tickets we've got a songfacts party. How much are you going to scalp them for? Or is it all on you? You're a he** of a nice guy!
  23. Thank you Gis we will. you can bet your sweet patootie if jr's got tickets, I'm there!
