  1. What happens when you try to log in?
  2. OK, that was long night, but we're back up and running. Check out the site in all its re-designed glory and let me know what you think.
  3. It's July 29th, and we're under the hood with the main site. When we come back online, things should look different.
  4. Noticed that the featured Calendar event of the day is the Summer Jam, which drew 600,000 fans to Watkins Glen in... 1973.
  5. Rayzor is exaggerating. Bolton scored huge points with us for doing the Jack Sparrow thing, and the guy is a very legit songwriter. He's also from Connecticut, and once dated a DJ at a station where I interned. Check out Bruce's interview with the man: http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/michael_bolton/
  6. "Theme from The Rockford Files" is the #1 song today. James Garner had one heck of a career - not sure we'll ever see characters like those anymore.
  7. Saw this in Esquire: A woman walks into a bar and asks for a double entendre. The bartender gives it to her.
  8. Yes, a well-deserved victory by Germany. Was happy to see this end on a heroic goal and not a shootout. BTW, thanks to the mention by the announcers, "Bad Moon Rising" is our #1 song right now.
  9. Wow, I'm kind of surprised we're Dwight-less. I feel like Dan interviewed him for us at some point, but apparently not. We'll reach out to see if we can get him.
  10. Fivethirtyeight.com used Songfacts to do a bit of research on this story about Classic Rock, examining what it is and how it has changed. They found that the peak year was 1973, and over half the songs played on Classic Rock radio came from the era 1973 to 1982. Also interesting is where the strongholds are for various artists in the genre (Washington DC loves REM, AC/DC is big in Denver). It's always a shock to the system when you hear a band you grew up with played on a Classic Rock station, but it appears to be more a factor of quality than age. Have a look here: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-classic-rock-isnt-what-it-used-to-be/
  11. They're doing the "All-American 4th of July" on the Sirius/XM classic rock channel, which has become a trope of the format. The idea is that only American artists are played, so no AC/DC or Led Zeppelin, but Edgar Winter might get some spins (not a bad thing). When I was doing the DJ thing, I used to get a kick out of trying to figure out what acts qualified: The Pretenders are fronted by an American, but she spent a lot of time in England. Heart is from the USA, but they went to Canada for a while. How about Santana? In a world where the American world cup team in coached by a German, nationalism doesn't mean what it used to.
  12. Not the easiest chart to read, but the point is that local forecasters tend to exaggerate rain - it's good for business.
  13. Same thing with the "World Series." It should probably be the "American Series."
  14. Yeah, Edna's link looks like the right one. Great tune and video. Love the bassline.
  15. .338 batting average was 10 points better than anyone else of his generation. Could have jumped ship to get a ring, but wanted to do it with the Padres.
  16. Good time for the World Cup. Both the hockey and basketball playoffs are dogs.
  17. Not sure a phone booth is mentioned specifically in this one, but he's putting a dime into something: "Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)" by Jim Croce
  18. Darius Rucker has proven elusive, despite Shawna's best efforts to wrangle him for an interview. Hopefully we'll get to ask him about this song someday.
  19. In the Control Panel (click the "My Fusion" link), there should be a setting for time zone, which should sort that. Not sure why your posts are 15 minutes tardy.
  20. It is indeed Jenny. We should have her interview up in the next week.
  21. Just got this shot in of a rather creative artist with an interesting look. We'll have an interview with her up soon. Can you guess who?
  22. Courtesy of Glen at the wedding band A Few Good Men. Their site is http://afewgoodmenband.com/the-band To see it all it's glory, you might need to right click, select "view image" and zoom in.
  23. This one worked for the gopher in Caddyshack: Not much to the verses, so most of the sentiment is in the chorus. It does have a part where he sings about listening to your own heart beating.
  24. Saw part of a documentary about Billy Joel's trip to Russia during the Cold War. He's entrenched behind his piano for most of his set these days, but the guy could really let loose when the spirit moved him, and the footage from Russia shows him doing a very spontaneous stage dive followed by a bit of crowd surfing. Peter Gabriel had been doing this for a while, but Gabriel did it at a very specific spot in his set, and the crowd knew it was coming. Check out this clip to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knqhdNWuLJo The stage dive is one of the required elements of punk rock, but were Gabriel and Joel the first to do it in an arena rock setting?
