  1. hey vince, been to a couple of weddings in my time and that is some great advice. is that the all saints song 'bootie call' you're referring to? great song!
  2. i used to do panto when i was younger and one year we did a christmas song medley which was rocking around the christmas tree, jingle bell rock, and then an instrumental of sleigh ride. we had these gorgeous short red dresses with white fluff trim on the hem and cuffs and pillbox hats with curled hair. i can still remember the choreography - happy days... i also love santa baby, played it at a christmas gig once and now i'm made sing it at every christmas party! great song! peaches your christmas selection rocks, i love adam sandler and jack black!
  3. goodness..... tensions are running high in the songfacts house....
  4. sweet jr we taped that on what-you-call-it betamax (?) when i was younger - it took two videotapes to get the whole movie!
  5. i love this idea jr (why can i never think up of good thread ideas??!) 1918 - "Oh How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning" hits #1 on the pop singles chart by Arthur Fields. 1959 - "High School U.S.A." by Tommy Facenda peaked at #28 on the pop singles chart. 1971 - Led Zeppelin's debut, actually released in early 1969, finally goes gold. By this time, the group is getting ready for their fourth album, "Led Zeppelin IV." It contains the classic "Stairway to Heaven." 1974 - "Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)" by Reunion peaked at #8 on the pop singles chart. apparently november 16th is also that lisa bonet person's birthday (b. 1967). i would never marry someone on my birthday! what if i didn't work out, it would ruin your birthday forever!!
  6. i'm not sure if it'll fit in with your selection the the all-time classic christmas song for me is 'fairytale of new york' by the pogues with kirsty mccoll
  7. lord muzik, i just read through all the lists from 30s through 90s and i must say, your taste in movies is superb! i salute you!
  8. that's right cd, make him dance!
  9. only just arrived and already you're helping people out i'm gisela btw, nice to meet you, stick around - you'll love it here!
  10. well i guess to fans of mozart, shostakovich is new. still in relation to the killers and the white stripes, the manics are positively geriatric!
  11. agreed angel, it's been a good twelve years since their debut album was released and they were together for quite a while before that! sure they're new in relation to bands like floyd or zeppelin but i wouldn't call them new per se!
  12. oooooooooh can't believe i forgot it!! on jeff's posthumous album 'sketches (for my sweetheart the drunk)' track 8 is called 'new year's prayer' - it's amazing and has a strong qawwali influence (he was a big fan of nusrat fateh ali khan ). it's gorgeous. also track 10 'you & i' is a practically a cappella song which is very relaxing and dreamlike. (other beautiful mellow songs on disc 1 of that album: everybody here wants you, opened once and morning theft)
  13. oh yeah! and fiona apple does a great version of 'across the universe' too!
  14. i'll keep my eyes peeled n the music channel in the meantime!

  18. okay but only for the rest of the day, then i'm changing back!
  19. great site sue, that'll keep me entertained for hours! incidentally have you noticed in the scene with gina and corey at the cafe ('not like me the turboslut, is that what you mean?') how the red bra keeps disappearing and reappearing from the table between them!
  20. i don't think that's true about the horse sinking and dying... they used loads of horses to play artax but they had to stop using one because it trampled noah hathaway who played artreyu!! maybe that was the grey one...?
  21. wow me too! you know, it was filmed in the bavaria filmstadt right here in munich! i went on a tour there when i was about 10 - i saw all the sets, the ivory tower, the rockbiter, loads more. *and* i got to sit on falkor *and* these used the technology to make me fly on screen. so exciting!! i thought the childlike empress was the most beautiful creature i'd ever seen. i always crie when i watched that film really wanna see it again now!!
