  1. sugar, i knew i'd forget loads of my favourite all the classics are fabulous - one of my besy friends growing up had the etire collection - i was so jealous!! 'the king of the swingers' used to be my lil brother's party piece - great song!
  2. i whistle that all the time too! also that song from the king and i 'whistle a happy tune'. 'whistle while you work', naturally. jdb whistles a section of the msp song 'you're tender and you're tired' so i whistle that a bit. i lose my voice quite often when i stay out late but i hate not being able to sing so on those days i ust whistle everything i want to sing, so anything really!
  3. yes, the new one is awful! it's completely out of tune, the voices aren't blended at all and the producers have clearly never heard of reverb. it's really really awful. the thing that's halfway good about it is that justin from the darkness takes the absolute p--- with his rubbish guitar solo - i can only imagine it must be that terrible on purpose! why why on earth do they feel they have to remake that classic song? it belongs to the era of band aid. and i hate the way in the video all the so-called celebrities are watching shots of the children in africa ad looking oh-so-shocked, as if they haven't seen it a million times before. it's so fake
  4. that's strange sue, i usually agree with everything you say but i saw 'ghost world' a couple of years back at the cork film festival and while i wouldn't say i *loved* it, i still enjoyed it and thought it was worth watching. i liked the strange dynamic of the friendship which developed between the characters of thora birch and steve buscemi (and i do lov everything he does) and i liked the portrayal of the how her friendship scarlett johansson's character suffered. the humour is certainly offbeat and doesn't inspire roll-around laughter but nonetheless i liked this movie. tonight i watched bridget jones diary for about the fourth time. it's a silly chick flick but lots of fun with a great feelgood soundtrack and lots of sharp and clever jokes (the kind i always try to remember for later use but never quite manage it). i always enjoy renee zellweger, colin firth and hugh grant so couldn't go wrong really. and it was the first movie i've watched in english in two months!!
  5. i absolutely love the disney animated movies (not the made-for-tv movie rubbish!). the best ones for me are the little mermaid, beauty and the beast and aladdin, although i do love so many more. i used to sing ariel's song to myself all the same when i went swimming and pretend i was a mermaid. when i was younger i had a little book of cinderella, you know those ones where you flip the pages to make a little movie. it was of her changing from her rags into her beautiful gown for the ball. i used to flip it back and forth for hours, it kept me entertained on many long car journeys (while my little brother played with his star com, love that too!). my best friend and i are crazy about the disney princesses and we decided one day that she must be jasmine because she has long dark hair and i'm cinderella. although i wouldn't mind being aurora either... hmmm strange girl i am
  6. that's so exciting! just imagine, all of your songfacts family will be able to share in this experience with you, you'll have to keep us all updated! i can't wait to be a mother... i mean, 7 or 8 years from now at least! congratulations, i'm really happy for you
  7. yes well as you can probably tell it's written from the heart. thanks for posting btw, first person 12 views later! the music to it is up-tempo, in the style of a cross between pj harvey and kristin hersh. i think it's the best song i've written, all the best ones come from true life.
  8. Grace - Jeff Buckley Parachutes - Coldplay Gish - Smahing Pumpkins Moon Safari - Air Boy - U2 and lots more already meantioned!
  9. You took what I couldn't give How am I supposed to live with you And all you do You broke up my train of thought I live with the fear I caught from you And all you do Come and take another piece of me All I have is what you left of me You don't know what you have done It's so hard to carry on for me I'm on my knees You don't know the mess you've made And all those freaky games you played with me I'm on my knees So come and take another piece of me Because all I have is what you left of me Come on, bleed me This is what you do to me All alone you're what I see, I'm blind You're in my mind You will never pay your debt Though I'm trying to forget I find You're in my mind Come and take another piece of me All I have is what you left of me, me, me, me, me Come on bleed me, come on bleed me Come on bleed me, come on bleed me You don't know, don't know what you do to me You don't know, don't know what you do to me, don't know what you do to me.
  10. and don't be surprised if i fall head over feet have you here for forgiveness
  11. eek! i haven't seen the video but it sounds awful. i'm quite disappointed cos i really like electric six and saw them play at oxegen last summer - they were brilliant, very entertaining and they performed theor cover of radio gaga very well. also the bass player was eyeing me up throughout the set and came off the stage after the set to shake my hand, much to my boyfriend's disgust!
  12. yes and certainly not something to laugh about.
  13. i dunno addict... that's not quite what i was saying. i don't think you have to experience different types of love and have lots of different relationships just to know what you have is love. i think you can be in a relationship with someone as long as it works for you and as long as you have *that* feeling, whether it be your first or fifty-first relationship. i just think anyone can tell another person what they're feeling is or isn't love. like any other emotion, love is entirely subjective.
  14. nice one suzy as you can probably tell, i've thought about this one alot!!
  15. my theory on emotions has always been that they are relative. each person has their own individual scope of emotions, developed throughout their lives through their experiences and personal only to them. i have always used this theory in relation to suffering but i think it applies to all strong emotions. for example, while one person may have experienced something truly dreadful in the grand scheme of things, for another person the loss of a grandparent may be the most devastating experience they have had and they suffer just as acutely. which is why if friends of mine who are having a hard time say to me 'oh but you've gone through much worse than this' i never agree, because to me suffering is relative. what they go through is equally difficult for them as what i have gone through has been for me. the same goes for love, i believe. for a young person experiencing love for the first time, it will be the strongest such feeling they have had and so for them it is love. they may remain in love with this person and the love may grow, or they may move on and feel something different perhaps stronger for someone else. that does not undermine the love that has gone before. i think it's very easy for someone who is older and has been through more relationships to dismiss young love as childish, transient, unimportant. but to the person who is overcome with those feelings, it is the most important thing they have ever felt. there's my tuppence worth!
  16. released by mr young in 1972, made it to number 1 in the us charts. covered in tori amos in 2001. tori amos - crucify
  17. yeah but his attempts at rap, metal, classical, jazz, electronica, hip hop, soul, reggae, punk, grunge, etc etc weren't quite so successful.
  18. so then old_55 it's nov 22nd in germany - what's the big deal??!
  19. just cos it happens so often doesn't make it any less sickening!
  20. aw i didn't give anything away - you know that's what happens in the first ten minutes of the movie! what i also love about it is that it's really a movie for all the family withoput resorting to jokes that go over the kids' heads, or being too sugar sickly sweet or cheesy. you have to see it edna, you'll love it!
  21. whoa that's horrific about don henley, i never knew that. what a creep.
  22. oh nooooooooooo it's not silly, it's brilliant!!! edna it has jack black (also in shallow hal, the jackal, i still know, and amazing band tenacious d). he's basically a waster musician with no job who gets kicked out of his band. in order to mke some money and pay his rent he poses as his best friend, pretending to be a teacher at a really posh school. since the only thing he knows anything about is music he starts a school project called 'rock band'.... you can imagine the fun and games that ensue. the soundtrack is fantastic, the kids are all amazingly talented (play all their own music and do their own singing) and needless to say jeack black in one of the most hilarious men on the planet!
  23. nope that's not the one i'm thinking of, sorry vince!
