  1. I have no logical explanation for my music tastes - as someone said above - it picks me. Whether its just a beat in the background that draws you in, or some rocking vocals that stick in your head, theres gotta be something subliminally that makes you want MORE!
  2. KISS Roxy Music (i'm trying to get Bryan Ferry tickets at the mo) and the third one would be one huge concert (as I can't decide on just one): GNR, Aerosmith, CCR, Journey, Led Zep, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Cher, David Bowie, Eric Clapton Ok, ok, if I had just one last choice it would be GNR!
  3. LOL....am I the only one that can sit down and listen to her? and I own 2 of her albums And BTW if I were a man, or a lesbian I'd do her too
  4. I don't play but I really wish I did, my brother is learning the guitar now, so far he has learnt some White Stripes, Green Day, Nirvana etc. Not a full song yet but he's coming on nicely!! Trying to get him to ask his teacher for the classic rock tunes, but as yet I've not seen any :: Will get a photo of him with it tomorrow if I can, how about all of you guys showing us you with your guitars? For now, here is an example of his guitar which he has just upgraded to from his beginners Jackson
  5. Excellent - just listened to four or five tracks from a couple of the albums. "How The Evening Will End", "Iron Tears" and "The Dusk Holiday" are very good tracks...

    Blotto

Anyone remember a punk rock group called Blotto? They were one of the first unknown groups to debut on MTV on their first broadcast. I've recently been chatting to Lee Harvey Blotto Blotto Funny how you end up talking to people you didn't realise were famous at one point!
  7. Bruce Springsteen songs feature the harmonica alot
  8. Personally I can't stand her either BUT she has bags of self-confidence and self-esteem, and that IS a good thing for teenagers
  9. KISS - Alive Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous Derek & The Dominoes - Layla and Other Assorted Songs
  10. You know someting - I can't actually think of ANYTHING lol There must be loads!!
  11. Guess as I'm an 80's baby, my memories are of 80's artists. Pretty much like music from any decade though - I've found that most songs are ageless
  12. I've only heard 'School of hard knocks' by POD, thought it was quite good
  13. Scorpions World Wide Live First live album I bought
  14. My parents used to listen to Simply Red, Luther Vandross, The Commodores, Alison Moyet, Stevie Wonder, Queen, etc. I guess its stick as I still like pretty much all of the above. They'd never dream of putting on a CD containing KISS, Sisters Of Mercy, Journey, or in fact any soft/heavy rock. Maybe some classic rock but to be honest I can't think of anything like that I've heard. Dad liked the Beatles and the Eagles though.
  15. Nena is a solo artist who sang 99 Luftballons. Franz Ferdinand are a group who sand a song called "Tell Her Tonight" and recorded it in german as well. They're aren't related in anyway! lol Think he worded it wrongly
  16. Sorry don't agree - BHG aren't in the same league for funny songs as TMBG - BHG are just extremely bad taste and vulgar. My twopenneth worth.
  17. You can't be serious - there is no comparison!
  18. John Peel RIP was way cooool
  19. "Wêr Bisto" by Twarres which is sung in Frisian, the offical language in North Holland. Truly beautiful song...here it is translated in English.... "When I saw you long time ago Oh, how much it hurts whenever I think about it again (2x) I search you I hear you I feel you, again and again (2x) Oeh.. Here am I Where are you It?s been so long Here am I Where are you It?s been too long You?re nothing else but sweet For you just don?t do anything wrong I love you, like you are Just for you to know Here am I Where are you It?s been so long Here am I Where are you It?s been too long You?re nothing else but sweet For you just don?t do anything wrong I love you, like you are Just for you to know I search you I hear you I feel you, again and again (2x)"
  20. Mairi - it's called 'copy and paste' ... using a lyrics database.. Hmmm....only bit I actually know is "sweat baby sweat baby" And Mairi - this is only my opinion of what is in my mind a truly awful band, same as The Cheeky Girls...Mr Blobby...Black Lace etc Nice touch of sarcasm with the 'there is such a thing as a remote" - I'm well aware of that thank you, I'm entitled to discuss a song even if I don't like it...same as everyone else. Ok? :sleepy: P.S I actually said in my post I liked the song for NOVELTY VALUE when it first came out and then grew to despise it - that means I recognised it as a fun song.
  21. Ms Jackson - loved it and loved the video I Like The Way You Move - was my ringtone for ages when it came out Hey Ya - weird song but cool tune
  22. LOL Yep its really the pits, although I liked it when it came out as it had novelty value...I've now realised just how damn awful it was. "Come quicker than Fed Ex, never reaching apex like Coca-Cola stock you are inclined to make me rise an hour early just like Daylight Savings Time" Yeh righty..........oooooooooook
  23. "I Was Made For Lovin' You Baby" - KISS "Bring Me To Life" - Evanescence "Witchy Woman" - Eagles "The Chain" - Fleetwood Mac
  24. Rock has allowed the emergence of strong iconic women such as Courtney Love from Hole, Siouxise Sioux from the Banshees, PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Joan Jett, Kathleen Hanna from Bikini Kill, Kim Deal from the Pixies and Shirley Manson from Garbage to name a few. Despite this female legacy there is little emergence of a new generation of women in rock. Who have we got at the moment? Well there's Brody Dalle from the Distillers, Amy Lee from Evanescence, Karen O from the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and Meg White from the White Stripes. In Britain we fail even further. At the moment the women with the highest profile in rock are women who established themselves years ago (such as PJ Harvey and Shirley Manson), and haven't produced a great deal of material lately. What's going wrong? I want to hear more women in rock because there music remains purer and untainted by a media ideology of what it means to be a woman. Women don't always want to sing nice fluffy songs about relationships that get to number one and more importantly not all women want to hear it either. Many teenage girls look up to woman in music and what role models have they got today? Are they hearing songs that they can connect with or are they hearing predictable manufactured dribble over and over again. Women in rock have always offered us songs that were about what they wanted to sing about not what they thought they should sing in order to sell more records. Some may of connected with it, others not. What has always been important with women in rock is that they were women doing what they wanted with no one controlling them. What could be a better role model that that? We need more women in rock and we need them now. ?I am not a woman. I'm a f******g force of nature?- Courtney Love
