  1. It is a typical North Jersey suburb for sure. Average house price probably exceeds $600K now. If Carole's words present an image for you....you most likely can picture it perfectly.
  2. You know it's a long intro when they give it a name. The intro is Funeral For A Friend and it is followed by Love Lies Bleeding.
  3. Does Paul's fuzz bass on The Beatles "Think for Yourself" count...I'll also add in "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"
  4. On Neil Young's "Decade" compilation, he writes a brief description for every song. I remember things like he had a 103 fever while writing Cowgirl In The Sand. My favorite is paraphrased something like this, "Cinnamon Girl was written for a girl at met and brought home from a show...my wife didn't understand."
  5. The late Rory Gallagher, the late Roy Buchanan and the late Mick Ronson were fabulous.
  6. I never saw it, but it gets tons of advertising on New York TV and radio.
  7. Cowgirl In The Sand - Neil Young
  8. Beyond The Great Divide - Bio about The Band Neil and Me by Scott Young (author and Neil's Dad).
  9. I am thinking back on some shows I've seen. I was fortunate enough to see Muddy Waters with Johnny winter in NYC. I've seen BB King and Buddy Guy many times. I saw something on TV once that I have never been able to find since...Buddy Guy playing The Beatles "Yer Blues". Sound familiar to anyone? I used to go see Roy Buchanan every year until he hung himself..that's the blues huh!!
  10. I love the drumming on Rick Derringer's "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo"....I have no clue who played drums on that one.
  11. Revolution - The Beatles You got: The furious intro....the scream....John's vocals.....distortion to the max....heartfelt lyrics.... Nicky Hopkins on piano....deeply imbedded guitar fades behind the lyrics.....screaming guitars....The Beatles
  12. Being on drugs might have made the song more tolerable.
  13. I can't think of a better one than, "In My Room" by The Beach Boys. Of course, Three Dog Night said "One" was the loneliest number.
  14. Please listen to Buddy Guy...even better go see him play. The man is a master. He plays guitar with feeling and fury. Happily he is being inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. I've seen him many times and I'm thrilled each show.
  15. Another neat Monkees song is "Here Comes Tomorrow". Sung by Davey Jones, I'd be willing to bet Squeeze heard that one somewhere along the line.
  16. I used to live off Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, New Jersey. Carole King lived there too and apparently hated it and everything the suburbs had to offer. She wrote Pleasant Valley Sunday about her experience.
  17. Nice psychedelic guitar on that one.
  18. Actually Rodgers probably never had the range that Freddie did..maybe they'll make some new songs designed to Rodgers vocals. roger Taylor can cover on the real high stuff.
  19. According to Brian May of Queen, the band is reuniting to tour the UK with Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company. If it goes well a European Tour and World tour will follow. May said he was playing with Rodgers at a Fender Guitar 50th Anniversary Gig and it was all to obvious that the chemistry was there. George Michaels did some vocals with the band during the Freddie Mercury Tribute era and he wasn't bad. I think Paul Rodgers is a better fit and he has a magnificent voice. [Your matches still light up the sky and many a tear lives on in my eye...Now I'm Here...Queen]
  20. Those two NYC stations sound like they are trying to play the worst Christmas songs ever...right now Lite FM is playing the worst...WPLJ will follow no doubt.
  21. Starting in January 2005, Mickey Dolenz is getting the morning show on WCBS-FM, New York City's "oldies" station. I heard him interviewed earlier this year on the "Classic" Rock station 104.3 (remember classic and oldies are two different genres), in any event, he was entertainign and it should be a decent morning show.
  22. that's "I Believe in Father Christmas" by ELP.
  23. Being a Bowie freak, I actually remember watching that Bing Crosby special on TV when it originally aired. 1973 seems a bit early, but you may be right. If you want another spin on The Little Drummer Boy...go get the Jimi Hendrix version. It is the Christmas version of what he did to The Star-Spangled Banner from Woodstock. He also does Auld Lang Syne if you want to do a Classic Rock New Year. Which reminds me...best wishes to Dick Clark. Dick had a stroke and doing the "Rockin" New Year Show might be in jeopardy.
  24. Did you ever hear the live Jimi Hendrix version of "Like a Rollin' Stone" ? Now that's a song! I can't remember the name of the album, but it is really good. Coincidence that the top song in Rolling Stone has their name in it???...I think not.
