Mike
I'd like to say I'd be all over a pre-release download, but I rather like a bit of anticipation (insert visual interlude - inverted Heinz bottle over a basket of fresh crispy-golden steak-fries) of having the cd, artwork, linernotes...the "new" good old fashioned way of owning a piece of music. But no, I haven't heard about that.
blue_n_white
Well I think we live in a different time and place. I agree, that was always part of the expirence when buying music. Putting the music on and looking at the cover, reading the linernotes, while the music played. That's the way it should be but not the way it's done anymore by most. I haven't allowed myself to download any music but I am afraid I am getting closer and closer to that point. Part of todays culture I suppose. Lucky
I know what you mean Mike, I feel the same way. I just caught a snippet of talk on the radio, and was wondering if I'd heard correctly. I may be slightly biased in my opinions. Notice my signature? I am the Queen, after all... blue_n_white
I heard just the very end of the first release off the album on,gasp,a country radio station earlier this week. I swear I was just surfing stations. I mean it. Honest.
musiclvr
Oh yes the new single is on country stations. My friend told me that the other day. And when you listen to the single it does have a country rock feel to it, it reminded me of early Eagles. I like it, they sound great. I am a little bit peeved that you can only get the album at WalMart. The Eagles giving in to corporate America, big surprise with Don Henley's political views. blue_n_white
Yeah that kind of surprises me too. Garth Brooks has done that too in the past. But anyway, when the CD comes out,I will go to Wally World and buy it. Of course my plans will be to buy that and only that when I go in there but I will come out with 3 bags of crap I didn't need. Sam Walton was a genius.
Mike
All this talk about Wal Mart make me think of Joni's little diddy... They paved paradise And put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique And a swinging hot SPOT Don’t it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They took all the trees And put them in a tree museum And they charged the people A dollar and a half just to seem 'em Don't it always seem to go, That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Hey farmer, farmer Put away that DDT now Give me spots on my apples But LEAVE me the birds and the bees Please! Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Late last night I heard the screen door slam And a big yellow taxi Took away my old man Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot I said Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
Batman
You know, even back in the day when the only thing I listened to was classic rock, I never much liked the Eagles. Ah well, to each his own I suppose. I find that albums are often better with low levels of anticipation. I couldn't wait for the release of Stars' new album and it ended up being a huge dissapointment, at least compared to what I was used to by them.
