Farin
[big]Gaping hole found in universe[/big] WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A giant hole in the Universe is devoid of galaxies, stars and even lacks dark matter, astronomers said on Thursday. The team at the University of Minnesota said the void is nearly a billion light-years across and they have no idea why it is there. "Not only has no one ever found a void this big, but we never even expected to find one this size," said astronomy professor Lawrence Rudnick. Writing in the Astrophysical Journal, Rudnick and colleagues Shea Brown and Liliya Williams said they were examining a cold spot using the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe satellite, and found the giant hole. "We already knew there was something different about this spot in the sky," Rudnick said. The region stood out as being colder in a survey of the Cosmic Microwave Background -- the faint radio buzz left over from the Big Bang that gave birth to the Universe. "What we've found is not normal, based on either observational studies or on computer simulations of the large-scale evolution of the Universe," Williams said in a statement. The astronomers said the region even appeared to lack dark matter, which cannot be seen directly but is usually detected by measuring gravitational forces. The void is in a region of sky in the constellation Eridanus, southwest of Orion. The researchers have posted images on the Internet at www.nrao.edu/pr/2007/coldspot/graphics.shtml. TheLizard
Well if he ate snickers, wouldn't the news be about an unexplained absence of Snickers, rather than galaxies and dark matter?
Farin
not if GOD doesn't want to make the news... I mean why would GOD want us to know his one weakness?
Levis
Couldn't he just create Snickers from nothing?

Farin
somehow I can't believe that GOD "forgot" to create a few square ly, or just didn't come around to it... I mean he already had a few billion years, right? so that leaves only One solution: he must have eaten it everything else just wouldn't be logical... Levis
How silly Galaxies and things aren't edible... duh *eye-roll* . he hasn't forgotten... he just hasn't got to it yet. In FACT! He must have made it. He created everything AND nothing. All bases covered.
Farin
BUT if he created everything and nothing what was there BEFORE god thought up to create something silly like a universe?
Levis
There was god, of course... and then he was all bored and stuff. So he made up galaxies and light and stars and stuff.
TheLizard
You'd think that if he was bored he could make something better than humans. Or maybe humans are just an unintended accident of evolution?
Levis
I think humans are leftovers.

Levis
No I don't! Why would God eat a part of the universe? He can make everything out of nothing... he doesn't need to eat his own handiwork!
