Joey
Can anyone help me? I am trying to remember a song which was similar to Space Oddity and on the charts around the same time. I can just barely remember the video with astronauts and space? Any ideas?
Foxy
What did it sound like? Do you remember any of the lyrics? Male or female vocalist?

Kevin
Any chance you are thinking of this song by Peter Schilling ? It's from 1983 ( closer in release to "Ashes To Ashes" than " A Space Oddity" ) and has a more techno sound , but does have the Major Tom story and has a bit of the 'feel ' of the original . I seem to recall that the video was as you described ... Major Tom (Coming Home) Lyrics Standing there alone, the ship is waiting. All systems are go. "Are you sure?" Control is not convinced, but the computer has the evidence. No need to abort. The countdown starts. Watching in a trance, the crew is certain. Nothing left to chance, all is working. Trying to relax up in the capsule "Send me up a drink." jokes Major Tom. The count goes on... 4, 3, 2, 1 Earth below us drifting, falling. Floating weightless calling, calling home... Second stage is cut. We're now in orbit. Stabilizers up, runnning perfect. Starting to collect requested data. "What will it affect when all is done?" thinks Major Tom. Back at ground control, there is a problem. "Go to rockets full." Not responding. "Hello Major Tom. Are you receiving? Turn the thrusters on. We're standing by." There's no reply. 4, 3, 2, 1 Earth below us drifting, falling. Floating weightless calling, calling home... Across the stratosphere, a final message: "Give my wife my love." Then nothing more. Far beneath the ship, the world is mourning. They don't realize he's alive. No one understands, but Major Tom sees. "Now the light commands this is my home, I'm coming home." Earth below us drifting, falling. Floating weightless coming home... Earth below us drifting, falling. Floating weightless coming, coming home... home..... _Laurie_
Story In Your Eyes..Moody Blues I’ve been thinking about our fortune And I’ve decided that we’re really not to blame For the love that’s deep inside us now Is still the same And the sounds we make together Is the music to the story in your eyes It’s been shining down upon me now I realize Listen to the tide slowly turning Wash all our heartaches away We’re part of the fire that is burning And from the ashes we can build another day But I’m frightened for your children That the life that we are living is in vain And the sunshine we’ve been waiting for Will turn to rain Listen to the tide slowly turning Wash all our heartaches away We’re part of the fire that is burning And from the ashes we can build another day But I’m frightened for the children That the life that we are living is in vain And the sunshine we’ve been waiting for Will turn to rain When the final line is over It’s certain that the curtain’s gonna fall I can hide inside your sweet sweet love For ever more
