I just posted this in another thread as a suggestion, but now I'm not even sure I have the exact implication behind this song. I have a presumption that it?s about him (Adam Levine) in first person falling in love with his girlfriend?s mother, but I?m not completely confident. Any suggestions or ideas behind the meaning would be appreciated, thanks.

"It was loosely based on "The Graduate", a favorite movie of theirs, and the story is that the boy is ACTUALLY cheating on the girl with her mother, who is caught in an emotionally, sometimes physically, abusive relationship with her husband.

It is based around Mrs. Robinson and Eleanor, although in the end of that one, the boy ends up coming to his senses and stays with the girl. Adam, however, seems like he ends up with the mother."

Yeah, I don't know, for sure, but I would say its the young girls mother, or maybe a friend of the girl..great song though

Thank you for your responses Based on what Earth Angel said, I'm guessing I did have the correct meaning behind the song. So most of what I said can be salvaged.
