Ken Posted May 16, 2019 Report Posted May 16, 2019 Brought a bunch home, sanded them down, stained them, screwed them to the wall. https://ibb.co/CtV8cxb https://ibb.co/c2hz8J1 Just old pallets from work.
Otokichi Posted May 16, 2019 Report Posted May 16, 2019 That "wooden wallpaper" look reminds me of Mary Padian of "Storage Wars" does/did with old furniture/falling-apart clothes dressers/discarded lumber. Great eye, interesting design, and an example of "upscaling"(?) existing materials.;)
Mike Posted May 28, 2019 Report Posted May 28, 2019 did you stain them different colors then, looks like a mix of oak, mahogany, and walnut etc. looks great. I built a picnic table and benches one time out of pallets.
Ken Posted May 30, 2019 Author Report Posted May 30, 2019 I don't know if you guys have the same thing we do, but a lot of those are the blue, CHEP pallets. They show up time to time at work, I grabbed some, took a couple different ones for the contrast, cut them apart and sanded them down with a belt sander. My wife Kelly picked out maybe 7 different stain colors, we stained them, she has a good eye for color, and handed them to me in the order she wanted them up in. The wall was painted flat black so any gaps in the wood wouldn't show the wall in the back, and I screwed them to the studs straight through the drywall. Those blue CHEP pallets are solid white oak, I mixed some soft yellow pine in as well.
