Sledding In Modern Times

Recommended Posts

This is how they sell inflatable sleds these days. Look at this poor kid, wearing a helmet while his mom leers over him. They can't even force a smile out of him for the shoot.

In these cold climates, snow days are the best of times. Back in the day, we would instinctively show up at the hill and stay there all day. We would have been horrified by adult supervision.

Out here, even in the Winter months, snow and ice are in short supply. So, the Hawaiians "surfed the land" (He'eholua) where ever there was enough of a hill to use the "land canoe." Adult supervision? Kids just wanna have fun. (And , as the narrator says, some "80-year-old kids" surf the land, too.)
