cosmosis Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 Hard for me to decide. Scott is classic stuff, but I started to listen to AC/DC when Johnson was already in the band. They are/were both great.
_jr_ Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I enjoy both. It's all about Angus, anyway.
Danielj Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 At a show it's all about Angus. Not on studio albums. Voice means a lot. Brian Johnson's annoys me after a while
_jr_ Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 That's a good point. Angus' live performance is a sight to behold. But when I said it's all about angus, I was referring to the albums. His guitar work is something that doesn't get enough credit.
Danielj Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I have to disagree. He is not one of the great guitarists. IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love AC/DC but he just isn't AMAZING talentwise.
_jr_ Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 Agreed. But I've always loved his sound. He's not the fastest, or the most innovative, but what he does crunches. I love it.
_Annabelle_ Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I voted for Brian Johnson. Though I think both of their voices are good, that is, they fit well within the band's sound, I prefer Johnson's overall. Also I think Angus Young is a pretty underrated guitarist. He's not a virtuoso or anything but he stuck to a very distinct, basic yet powerful style. A great style that, I think, also characterized AC/DC as a whole: tasteful, raw and energetic.
MindCrime Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 It's a tossup for me, they're both good, I give Johnson credit mostly on how well Back in Black succeeded, I think this is the only band who's managed to have their biggest album hit with their second lead singer, most other bands flop or see their fan base decrease at that point. My vote still goes to the legendary Scott though, his mark with the band helped pave the way for metal. I agree with everyone on this thread who says that it's all about the Angus.
