Carl Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 I'm editing Bruce's "They're Playing My Song" piece on Bob Lind (you can probably guess the song), and he talked about doing shows like Hullabaloo and Shindig to promote it, all of which required the artists to lip synch, something Bob thought was "idiotic." Of course, this practice didn't end in the '60s, and it continues to be the format of choice for many shows. That got me thinking: What are some of the most memorable lip synched performances of all time? Here are 3 that come to mind: 1) Milli Vanilli getting caught at a concert. 2) Pink Floyd doing a show where Syd Barrett was too burned to move his mouth to the words, so Roger Waters had to do it. 3) Ashlee Simpson getting caught on Saturday Night Live. What are some other memorable lip synch moments?
MindCrime Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 I found this video clip that highlights many great lip sync failures, including Nirvana and Shakira. Hips don't lie, but her lips sure do
Shawna Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 oh crikey, any song that has a fade-out at the end and the singer tries to lip synch that, it is going to be awful.
