janetlee1964 Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) A friend of mine asked me if Merle Haggard ever recorded the song "Lonesome Traveler". He said he's been unable to find it on any of Merle's discography listings. Does anyone know the answer? I'd love to help out this friend that's helped me so much! Thanks! jl1964 Edited March 20, 2010 by Guest title
Lucky Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Janet, I've searched, both by artist & by song title at allmusic, and googled myself silly, but can find nothing. What makes your friend think that Haggard recorded it? Could he have possibly heard a live performance? Maybe someone else will have more luck, sorry. Anyway, I'm a fan of Haggard and it didn't ring any bells for me. He did record the classic Lonesome Fugitive. Not the same song at all, but a good'un.
janetlee1964 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Oh Lucky! I feel soooooooooooooooooo bad to tell you this after you searched long and hard, but I made a really stupid mistake! I was supposed to type in Buck Owens, NOT MH! I had "Lonesome Fugitive" on my mind when I wrote the message and so put Merle's name by accident! I'll have to re-ask the question, but properly this time! Again, thank you so much and I do apologize for the trouble you went through because of my big boo-boo!! jl1964
janetlee1964 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Earlier I mistakenly wrote "Merle Haggard" rather than "Buck Owens" in the subject bar of my message and carried on the mistake in the actual message! Bummer!! What I was SUPPOSED to ask is this: Did BUCK OWENS ever record "Lonesome Traveler"? If anyone knows or finds out, thanks for your help! jl1964
Lucky Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 No problem .... I'll just have a look at Buck now. I forgot to say the most important thing ... welcome to SF!
edna Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Hi, and as Lucky said, welcome to SF... I searched in www.allmusic.com but I only found "Lonesome Valley" by Buck Owens.
MuzikTyme Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I searched, too, and edna said it. But, while we're on the subject of Buck Owens then we might as well hear what made him famous.
janetlee1964 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Thank you all for searching for me! I'll let him know about the "Lonesome Valley" song too! And thanks for the welcome also! I love this board! JL64
Lucky Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 We love it too ... stick around kiddo, you're always welcome.
janetlee1964 Posted March 21, 2010 Author Report Posted March 21, 2010 Thanks! Does anyone know where "Lonesome Valley" by Buck Owens can be downloaded online? It's not on iTunes or You Tube. Thanks again! JL64
Lucky Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Is it the right song? Find out which album it's on, and maybe you can at least hear a clip at amazon? I checked allmusic but they don't have a sound clip of it there.
Farin Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 it seems to be a pretty obscure song... on last.fm it's not among the 500(!) most listened songs by Buck Owens
edna Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 It's on a 1970 LP, "Your Mother's Prayer" but I googled and I couldn't even find it on Amazon for sale...
Brad_M Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks! Does anyone know where "Lonesome Valley" by Buck Owens can be downloaded online? It's not on iTunes or You Tube. Thanks again! JL64 The song has since been added to iTunes. Songs Of Inspiration - Buck Owens & The Buckaroos
Zabadak Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Buck Owens - as referred to by name in the lyrics of "Looking Out My Back Door" by Creedence. Just thought I'd say...
