Songs about Human Rights

"Imagine" is an obvious choice

Get Up, Stand Up ~ Bob Marley

So now you see the light, eh!

Stand up for your rights. Come on!

Strange Fruit ~ Billie Holiday

or some not as well known songs:

W.M.A. ~ Pearl Jam

Crying Shame ~ Jack Johnson

and here's a poem I stumbled across while looking for songs:

First they came for the Jews,

but I wasn’t a Jew, so I didn’t react.

Then they came for the communists,

but I wasn’t a communist, so I didn’t object.

Then they came for the homosexuals,

but I wasn’t a homosexual, so I didn’t stand up.

Then they came for the political activists,

but I wasn’t a political activist, so I didn’t protest.

Then they came for me…

and by that time no one was left to stand up.

~ Martin Niemöller

Chumbawumba has a few called Homophobia and Enough is Enough

you could probably put up half of their discography in this thread here :D

Homophobia is a nice example

but you have to be a bit cautious, I don't know what the project of the OP is for, and some songs can get a bit radical ;)

Enough is Enough is Enough

Give the Fascist man a gunshot

(*sound of gunshot*)

as further example: Sing About Love

I don't want to sing about anger and hate

I don't want to sing about fear and defeat

I don't want to sing about the things I always sing about

I wish I could sing about love

I don't want to sing about war and greed

I don't want to sing about those we can't feed

I don't want to sing about the things I always sing about

I wish I could sing about love

I don't want to sing about suffering and pain

I don't want to sing for another campaign

I don't want to sing about the things I always sing about

I wish I could sing about love

I don't want to sing about rights and wrongs

I don't want to sing all the same old songs

But I'll sing them, and sing them, 'til there's no need to sing them

And then I can sing about love.
