MuzikTyme
Hello, Songfactors! We all have a certain song we love that sometimes sounds best, "Unplugged." What song do you adore that hasn't been, shall we say, acoustic-ized, yet? By all means, share your favourite "unplugged" song or even better, list one that has not been done, yet! Here's a favourite one of mine and it goes like this... Overbearing panic attack entrenching my veins In an hour I'll be ok I pray this pain will go away permanently someday I'VE seen more than... I should have to... I've seen this on my own . . . This song is a, Poem to myself, It helps me to live... In case of fire, BREAK the glass, And move on into your own... Reoccurring drowning effect entrenching my brain, I hope you'll be ok someday, So I can say that you moved on in the right way... WE'VE seen this and WE'VE breathed this and WE'VE lived this on our own... This song is a, Poem to myself, It helps me to live... In case of fire, BREAK the glass, And move on into your own... Your own... BREAK... This song is a, Poem to myself, It helps me to live In case of fire, BREAK the glass, And move on into your own... Your own . . . Viaene
Layla is probably the ultimate unplugged song Unfortunately WMG chose to block it from youtube :@
MuzikTyme
I concur, Sébastien! One helluvan acoustic version!
TheLizard
I can never decide how I feel about the acoustic Layla. I mean, it's nice, but completely castrates the original and loses most of the emotion.

I mean, it's nice, but completely castrates the original and loses most of the emotion. Agreed. I like it, but I'm not sure. I found it odd when Bob Dylan put out an unplugged album. Most of the songs he played were written and recorded unplugged. It just seemed sort of like a normal concert.

Viaene
Not many persons master a 12 string so well as SRV does. Great version, but I prefer the original because of the Double Trouble backing.
The Seeker
I can never decide how I feel about the acoustic Layla. I mean, it's nice, but completely castrates the original and loses most of the emotion. That's exactly what I think too.
MuzikTyme
I can never decide how I feel about the acoustic Layla. I mean, it's nice, but completely castrates the original and loses most of the emotion. Castrates is a little harsh and "completely" well, an over-exaggeration IMO. Nothing beats Derrick and the Dominoes' original version but the acoustic version of "Layla" is a nice option to see its production from a totally different perspective and sound. I'm not trying to say acoustic versions are better, just a nice element towards variety. Thanx for the responses, everyone. U2, Mr. Crime.

MuzikTyme
Did they do an Unplugged set? They've a few... Here's homage! Luckily, I witnessed their recent tour and, for lack of a better word, they were TRUE to their form!
bluesboy
Neil Young has given us an occasional acoustic version of a rocker that sounded pretty good... Massey Hall 1971 - Down by the River
chutzpah
"Down by the River" and "Like a Hurricane" I always thought that the unplugged version of "Layla" was like grandpa Clapton...I mean it's good but it doesn't have the (I don't know how to say this) passion I guess... RyanTurtle
The acoustic version of Help I'm Alive by Metric is really good . . . And I love the unplugged version of Layla. Probably because seeing Eric Clapton play it during an acoustic set at a small coffee shop in Kansas City was one of the coolest moments in my life. . . other than actually MEETING Clapton, of course. So it has more sentimental value, as opposed to the original version just making me think about dropping acid with my friends.
